Oh no. Customization. The entire franchise is ruined forever. Such betrayal. I can't believe people can choose things now. That's not real Halo.

*sigh. If they were just making more "real" Halo people would be angry that there wouldn't be enough change.
You aren't above this thread, sorry. Stop sighing like you are tired of this thread, halo 4 threads are pretty rare on this forum in comparison to other threads. Besides the work out has only begun!

To be honest it's at that "like CoD, but.." stage. I honestly can't blame them for making the game incorporate CoD elements, after all pretty much every pop-FPS game game does it. Halo 4 still has large open environments, spartan-esque gameplay and it still plays like halo although with some gimmicks thrown in.

However those pre-order armors are a crime against humanity (especially the vent one). Whoever made them should be thrown down a well.

There've been enough.

No, it's "like Halo, but with customization". Unfortunately anything that's in CoD is always associated with CoD and can only be ripped from CoD in people's eyes.

No, the cup's half empty. Unfortunately anything that's half full is always associated with a 50% water cup is always associated with the cup being half full and can only be half full in people's eyes.

I have already said I can't blame them for it; the customization CoD uses is a very effective system and of course they are going to use something similar with a more halo-feel to it. Yes other FPSes use it as well, (presumably) even FPSes before CoD, but CoD is just the easiest to compare it to due to being a popular FPS that uses the system.

Wake up, John. It is time to play more halo. Three more halos at least.

Until 343 says anything I'ma reserve judgement. For all we know this could just be the gametype customization screen. Remember how you could specify what weapons and abilities went into each loadout when making gametypes for custom games? This doesn't look too different.

Eh, knew this was coming, it appears to just be an improved system to what they implemented in Reach.
Besides, if it means I can have plasmas to begin with over frags all the time, I'm cool with it.
Yeah, it doesn't seem yet like there's reason to panic. They seem to just be taking reach's approach of giving the player more control without going as far as COD does, retaining the random elements that make halo games so varied online.

Pretty much. People just can't win. Do one thing the haters come to hate, do another the OTHER haters come to hate -.-

OT: Looks good to me. I'm sure all of the abilitites will have the needed pro's and cons. Extra customization is (useually) good ^_^

OH HO HO! IT IS FUNNY BECAUSE HE SAID HALO OF DUTY 4 IMPLYING THAT IT IS LIKE CALL OF DUTY 4 WHEN IT IS SUPPOSED TO BE LIKE HALO! NO ONE HAS EVER DONE THIS BEFORE! OH HO!

...I don't see the big deal, but then again developers always get caught in a death trap with their fans, if they didn't put in customization, people would complain that they didn't change anything. Same thing with armor abilities, if that wasn't in Halo Reach, people would've complained about there not being innovation. People seem to hate change no matter what it is, personally I like this idea, and if it turns out to be crap at least I still have a good copy of Halo Reach. I'd rather it be something new than Halo 3.5 like those whiners on the Bungie.net forums want...those were their exact words, they flat out said that they wanted Halo 3 with updated graphics. Nostalgia blindness much?

What big deal? I'm just comparing it to CoD because that's what everyone's thinking anyways... Even you! Not like it really matters since it is just using CoD elements and it's the logical extreme of the AAs and Loadouts introduced in halo reach.

Although tactical package abilities suck as all they do is a stat change unlike AAs that actually do stuff beyond giving me some extra grenades to spam with my jump pack.

I wonder if you can forge spartan OPs maps. That would be so awesome being able to do that. I wanted to do that since halo 3, but I know that custom maps of the campaign verity are not easy since AI pathing and all so maybe with the engine changes they added that in. I suspect this because how else will they make 5 missions for spartan OPs a week?

Spartan IVs look like they were designed by a 12 year old!

G.I.Joe anyone?
Oh good Lord, what in the hell are those? The second one doesn't even remotely resemble a Spartan suit.

I get that they're supposed to be the next breed of super soldier, but do they have to make the armor so garish? I don't mind experimenting with different designs, but at least try to make them consistent with the visual style of the series thus far.
That's because the armor is the MJOLNIR VI which is considerible lighter and so looks different then the Mark V and if you didn't notice, everything has been changed, even the Mark V looks different.

And do note the armor and it's color style aren't one in the same, they just put two together, the armor style and color pattern can be changed fully.

Is that a DMR?

Why does it make any contextual sense for the outdated DMR to be standard issue in a world where the Battle Rifle was made?

Anyway, not loving this. Call me a puritan but I loved Halo because it had a unique style that seperated it from other multiplayer games. No loadouts and colorful visuals for one thing. This really does not look like the Halo I know and love, Reach pushed it a little by adding loadouts and making Elites only playable in certain modes but this has gone too far for me.

The Spartans no longer look anything like the iconic Spartans of the past and the loadouts are way more complicated and too much like Battlefield and the final nail in the coffin was the realization that the elites are not playable in multiplayer.

I can't believe it, but this is the first time I've ever seen news for a Halo game and not been interested. Time was I was the biggest Halo fanboy who ever lived, but now I'll just take the trilogy, ODST and Reach and ignore the rest.
There is the DMR and the BR both in the game, and it appears both are new models.

And the Elites might be in the game, but they did say they won't be in RANKED multiplayer because Ranked multiplayer is story based compared to previous games were Single-player and multiplayer were seperate.

And loadouts are pretty simple, pick between the pistol, DMR, BR, and Assault Rifle (no RPGS, no Sniper rifles) and it's gernades, and armor ability.

Exactly, if they change it then people complain, if they keep it the same, people complain.

Yeah the armor is more light weight, but tell me where in glasslands did they say they let a kid design the appearance of it? I mean look at that armor, it looks really silly. I just hope it doesn't look like that in-game.

Well, there goes what little interest I had left in the Halo series.

Someone mentioned it earlier. Halo is meant to be a fair game. You start with the same gun, same health, same everything, and fight your way to weapons and upgrades. That's what makes it a better competitive shooter than most of the games on the market. When you start adding in all these perks, armor attachments, jetpacks and other bullshit, it ceases being a fair competitive game. Reach proved this, and now Halo 4 is going WAY farther in the same direction? Ugh...

Long story short, if I wanted to play Call of Duty, I'd just pop my CoD4 disc back in my 360. I want Halo, not Halo of Duty.

I doubt they're making it more like CoD. I have faith in 343. They know their audience, and adding customization won't be so bad. The races for power weapons and map control should stay there and the only thing I would change among old powers is STOP disabling opponent shields after using the armor lock!

Wow, it's amazing to see how many people will just flat-out lose all interest in the game and any future instalments, because it has more customisation options and because a few of very likely many more armor variants don't look very good.
Now that's true dedication right there.
Personally, I like the customisation, though the armor looks horrible(though they do have horrible colours right now, so who knows?) and I'm looking forward to hearing more, especially gameplay.

When CoD4 added in that customization stuff, everyone was cool with that. Why's everyone so damned cynical with new games adding in this feature? It's 2012, we don't have to limit games to Quake style arena matches. Until it's officially declared, i'm going to assume that if there is any type of imbalance that is formed from this, there's a chance there would be a "classic (team) deathmatch" mode.

Plus, i hate always starting with the BR/DRM. I feel like Halo has started every single game mode with that thing since Halo 2 and i'm tired that they keep forcing that gun down my throat.
