I just ordered myself a Gamecube. After never having one, and getting more and more into older games I decided "why not?".

Looks kind of fun, some nice games out for it, I'll be on the lookout for Legend Of Zelda: The Twilight Princess, Burnout 2, Super Smash Bro's, F - Zero GX and it comes with Tony Hawks Underground.

Any other suggestions?

Also, have you purchased a last gen console recently?

Metroid Prime 1 & 2 are both decent games, as well as Resident Evil 4, if you haven't played it by now. There's also the Viewtiful Joe games for crazy platforming action, and Tales of Symphonia for RPG gaming.

But yeah, get Twilight Princess before everything else. If you're a Zelda fan, you will not be disappointed.

EDIT: And I'm somewhat ashamed to admit that I own all three last-gen systems. :(

So do I. I also own a dozen other ancient consoles.

Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime 2 are definitely must-buys, as is Twilight Princess and F-Zero.

Anything else is just a bonus.

Star Wars Rouge Squadron 2: Rouge Leader. Seriously one of the best SW games ever made. God I'm a dork. :D

O.K. Look. Ignore everything else, and buy Eternal Darkness. That game is incredible, and it's a shame not enough people have played it.

Wave Race Blue Storm is quite hard, but nowhere near as punishing as F-Zero GX is.

-Viewtiful Joe
-Resident Evil 4
-Metroid Prime 1 and 2
(RPGs, and good ones)
-Tales of Symphonia
-Baten Kaitos
-Skies of Arcadia
()
-Resident Evil (REmake)
-Super Monkey Ball
-Battalion Wars
-Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes
-Killer 7 (!)
-TimeSplitters 2
-Star Wars Rogue Squadron: Rogue Leader
-Beyond Good and Evil
-Soul Calibur 2
-Zelda: The Wind Waker (!)

Whew. But seriously, if you're going to take one game from my list, take Eternal Darkness. Great game.

Hell, it's the truth though. Great game deserving of it's praise.

Really? I thought this [http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/pc/bigrigsovertheroadracing?q=] was the worst of all time. I mean, hell, Aquaman got a 27% score. This got an 8!

Paper Mario and the Thousand Year Door, please just get it. It is easily one of the best games I've ever played.

I'd hate to ask this, but why didn't you get a Wii? Its fully backwards-compatible and not that much more expensive. I'd return the gamecube and get myself a Wii if I were you.

In either case, make sure to pick up Smash Bros. Melee and Wind Waker. Sorry if I sounded rude.

Yea Metroid Prime was amazing
but i do disagree with the Zelda part, Twilight Princess just felt way too dumbed down in the difficulty category, but maybe it's just me

Ahh yes, I was going to get a Wii, but I bought a White PSP 3000 instead.

Also, I bought the Gamecube + Memory card + Tony Hawks Underground + Official controller + All the leeds needed for £18.96. A bargain in my eyes... ^_^

Tales of Symphonia and,Paper Mario: the thousand year door both great JRPGs.

Metroid Prime 2

If you can get your hands on the collectors edition of LoZ with the first two Zelda's plus the N64 ones if you don't have any of them

Eternal Darkness was a nice and creepy game. More actual mind-trickery than jump-out-and-yell-BOO! scares, which is nice.

Wind Wwaker, Melee, but you know that already. Mario Kart double Dash is alright, doesn't beat the Wii version but still. The Mario parties as well.
