I JUST accidentally overwrote my 98% save file on Red Dead Redemption and as you can imagine, I'm a little pissed off at this.

How many of you have done something like this recently? I know a lot of people overwrite save files accidentally, but what was your biggest loss?

My apologies if this has been done before.

I did this on Fallout 3. Saved over a file that had about 30 hours play time. After that I vowed to be an evil character.

I tripped over a cable and my ps turned off after 2 hours of game without saving. I'm still pissed.

When I reformatted my computer, I had all my games on one of my hard drives and I thought "ehh, they are just games, I can just reinstall them all". Well, half way through installing the OS I remember the 200ish level files I made for games just go deleted.

Another time I was making a park on THPS2 and playing with some ball on my bed. I had just gotten the park down after working for hours on it, and I threw the ball up in the air... the ball landed on the power button of my playstation. :/

Maybe everyone who tried up till now had a seizure before they could type due to that avatar of yours.
Seriously, I can't look at it for long, but never mind.

On topic, it happened to me once with Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.
Luckily, I was only about 33% into the story.

In Gothic there was a part when you change from the open world and head of to a dungeon (as far as I remember its the only one in the game) and you need to pull some leaver in some room to open a door BUT you can pass that by using a scroll of transform into meatbug and sneak under the door. Now I played and kept saving constantly and saved over the part in which I was still on the other side of the door. Where is the problem ? I head you ask, well it's there that I didn't have another scroll at me hence that meant starting the game all over again >_> after about 10 or so hours of gametime.

I accidentally deleted my 39 hour save file on FFXIII. That pissed me off an unbelievable amount.
I always found I naturally do a "new save" on FFXIII by mistake which is fairly irritating, but at least I have plenty of backups. I did once erase my FFVII save back in the day, though - goodbye Omnislash and Gold Chocobo.

Well, it hasn't happened so much with game saves, but when I reinstalled Windows, I deleted around 3 GB of graphic design work that I had done, and around 4 self made games that each took a very long time to make, let alone play.

On the newer ones you have to physically delete your old file before saving over it on a new game. I did not realise this, and I started a new game and was about 2 or so hours in. I go to save...and I cannot.

I once deleted my Pokemon Gold data- I had collected every single little (and not so little) bastard out there. I think my mind broke a little back then.

I saved over my 170 hour game, all was not lost though, that day me and my friends started a paintball team, and my autosave was still intact (didn't find out until a week later).

I've developed a bit of a bad habit when playing pokemon. I forget to save before shutting it off. It's never(rarely) more than 30 min at a time but still it's a bit of a piss off. OH! Also I was clearing some space on my 360 by deleting old save files from fallout 3. I didn't realize until I was almost done that instead of going from least to most recent save I was going the opposite way. Fortunately I quickly realize that I still had an intact auto save.

I had worked for about 50 hours on an MLB roster file. I overwrote it accidentally. I was none too pleased.
