I just finished watching the season finale of Hannibal and I must say that it very well could have been the definition of perfection (at least for me). You'd think I'd be depressed after such an incredibly dark episode but I feel elated.

Moments like these don't happen very often and I'm curious as to when the last time my fellow Escapists encountered something like this.

When was the last time you finished something (movie, book, show, game, heck... meal even) where you sat back and though "that was perfect."

The ending of The Shield [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0286486/?ref_=nv_sr_1]

We had a thread like this forever ago so I'm just going to steal my writing from that (and add to it a little more)

If you haven't seen it and you have any interest (something I would STRONGLY recommend), I would not read the spoiler. The twists and turns and the will he/won't he that occurs in the last season will be soiled. It's on Amazon Instant Streaming if you already have it.

A lot of anti-heroes seem to never really get what they truly deserve. Hell, for the most part, they end up just getting killed or they get away; it's very rare for them to be actually and truly punished for their actions.

That was about the best endings I've ever seen. I don't think a show has EVER made me as sick to my stomach (in a good way though) as this one did. Throughout the entire run of the show, these four corrupt cops did some very bad things but always stuck together. Finally, as Shane murders one of his own to keep a secret, Vic feels the pressure from everywhere. Shane is on the run and will spill everything that they have ever done if he gets caught. Eventually, Vic gets a FBI job which has the condition of pardoning him for everything he's done as long as he confesses it. Vic tells Ronnie, the surviving member that isn't on the run, that he will have a job for both of them there.

It falls through. Vic, in order to save himself, spills everything to the Feds to give himself immunity, leaving Ronnie pissing in the wind. Ronnie is arrested but the kicker is that Shane kills himself rather than being taken. Shane bluffed it...Vic spilled everything to save himself for absolutely no reason. The FBI, disgusted with what they have, stick him in a desk. The end scene is Vic standing, looking out the high skyscraper window. Two of his best friends are dead, the third is going to prison for a long time, and everyone around him (including his former wife and kids) absolutely hate him for what he's done in the past. This is not what he wanted at all...

Abso-fucking-perfect. I was very worried about the ending since frankly, anti-hero shows usually don't end well (as in, the endings suck) but The Shield absolutely nailed it.

Well i just finished the new x-men movie . And honestly, i really enjoyed it. My brain and eyes are tired from the 3D,but it was totally worth it.

Also , the ending of final fantasy 14 Arr main story quest . When i saw the credits go up , i was satisfied . I was like " yup, that was good".

The ending of Bioshock 1. I put down the controller and said "what a perfect little package."

The ending of Bioshock Infinite. I put down the controller and said "what a perfect little package."

An Irish latte. I put down the cup and said "what a perfect little drink."

I loved it, I've seen all the movies so I was worried they were going to copy the beginning of Red Dragon where Will stabbed Lecter and captured him but this was so perfect I loved it. Especially the after credits scene where he's sipping champaign with his doctor. I'm not sure what their going to do next season but I'm excited.

I think the last time I thought that was maybe the ending to Breaking Bad, or Spec Ops the line.

This happened to me with the show Fringe at the end of season 3. Everything seemed to have been wrapped up perfectly, and then apparently season 4 came out a few months later. Still no idea why.

I'm gonna take you up on the meal one. Couple of Christmas's ago, family decided to forget turkey and have a bit of beef instead. Brother-in-law (who's a chef btw) does what I'm reliably informed is called a 3-day-water-bathed beef and I gotta say, had a lot of meat dinners in my time, but that was just outstanding. Totally nailed the veg to perfection as well.

Was just the perfect meal.

Wut? Man, I didn't realise anyone liked that ending. That game peaked halfway through and plummeted for me.

OT: I found Code Geass to have an incredibly satisfying ending. I'm under the impression that a lot of people hated the second season, but I thought the ending completely nailed it. Talk about tear-jerking.

Last night was all about showing us how badass Hannibal is.

I think warehouse 13 just did great series ending. A Community not real flashback pinpointing their most important moments. Almost made for the rest of the season.

The ending of B5 rounded out everything nicely too.

Another vote for The Shield, Breaking Bad, Spec Ops and Bioshock Infinite

The ending of the first Full Metal Alchemist before the movie

The mission on horizon in ME2, as well as the suicide mission

In the Pale Moonlight and The Visitor from DS9

Mrs. Frederic laughing was great as was Claudia's moment. I actually liked the majority of the last season, particularly when Steve was split into the two people.

OT: I think that the ending of Bastion really had that feeling for more. I couldn't have been more happy with that.

Eureka had a great finale, which was especially noteworthy given the way SyFy changed the plan several times (Which they managed to take a shot at). Maybe not perfect, but I think it was close enough for jazz.

The Walking Dead Season 4 Episode 14

The story arc for this one really caught me off guard and really makes it stand out among the rest of the episodes. Honestly, I don't think they could have written this one better.

Avatar the Last Airbender. Breaking Bad. And each bottle of The Glenlivet 18 that I've bought. Each of those had a perfect finnish. ;)

I mean, Breaking Bad is an obvious recent answer. It was obvious what the ending was going to be, and if you paid attention closely to the characters the way it ended and how exactly it all happened was foreshadowed to some degree, yet predictability isn't always a bad thing and BB showed this. The ending they chose was the only suitable one for the series.

It's funny that you say the ending of Breaking Bad was predictable, because when the writers started writing season 5 and had Walt buy that M60 they didn't know at the time what they wanted him to do with it, they just thought it would be a really cool flash forward to do at the start of the season and basically decided they'd figure out the rest in the future.

Here's Vince Gilligan talking about writing the end of the show, and some alternate endings they thought of before they figured out how they wanted to finish it:

I just finished season 1 of orange is the new black the show is great!

[spoiler/]especially that scene of piper out in the cold against the crazy "angel" in contrast with the warmth and happiness of the christmas pageant....friendless, alone and now fighting for her life...great stuff

I'm just worried season 2 is going to have a disturbing lack of Alex[/spoiler]

Portal 2 is also a great one

Bioshock infinite for me even...except for the addition of Burial at sea...

Well, I'll continue on the TV series line.
Last episode of Supernatural, season 9.
I have been waiting since... season 4 or 5, for the series to end. I love the series, but I don't want it to dip in quality, but end at a high. Still, for me, it's still good and keeps me interested, with soem nice new monsters and the main storyline still being pretty good. But the ending of season 9, HOLY SMOKES! Loved it! Won't spoil anything, but season 10 will be very, very interesting.

I'll have to say the True Ending of 9 Hours, 9 Persons, 9 Doors. It was absolutely genius. EVERYTHING that was established and set up beforehand instantly fell into place at the climax, and I can think of no better way to have ended a game like that. It's something I believe everyone who owns a Nintendo DS/3DS should see.
