Ya know, I know everyone rags on Far Cry 2 like its the worst thing in the world. I picked it up for free when Gamestop did a buy 2 get 1 free deal and expected the worst. However, it ended up being ok even though I just avoided the stupid missions and went around blowing stuff up.

OT: Fallout 3
Expected: A drop in quality from Oblivion and at best a good game.
Got: One of my favorite games of all time.

Mass Effect
Expected: I'm not really sure; I got it for 15 bucks when I was in Blockbuster a year ago for no reason whatsoever.
Got: Another of my favorite games of all time.

Prince of Persia
Expected: (Mind you that I'm not a fan of platformers) Another deathtrap-laden platform fest in the spirit of the first trilogy.
Got: An incredibly enjoyable game with stunning art design and fun characters.

Expected:An awesome sci-fi film more realistic then Star Wars.
Got:Close to an hour of going "Wait, what?" I still loved it.

Expected: An average platformer with some great creativity elemets (Thanks to ZP), with Stephen Fry
Got:A great platformer that has an old school feel, while updating it for the present day. I loved the graphics style, and some of the subtle humor in the game. Exceeded expectations.

What i expected: with all the hype, rumors and expectations, I thought it would be nothing short of pure freakin awesome!

What I got:.......well, it wasn't "bad". But I guessed everything that would happen an hour before it transpired. So t wasn't very original. I liked District 9 more personally.

Demon Souls

What i expected: A game something along the lines of god of war, or Diablo, or some other done before game style plastered over with gritty done before graphics. And also adding in insta death or some other cheap ass thing that makes the game "hard" as it proclaimed to be.

What i got: A very well done game, with attributes both new and old, but all well done and implemented fairly smoothly.....And to top it off, it was actually hard. Not cheap, just hard. But only on the second run through, and only the black phantoms......and the dead babies....impossible dead babies....

Mass Effect:
What I expected after everyone talking to damn much about it: A game with a lot of replay-ability.

What I got: A game with near no replay-ability due to everything outside of the main story being extremely extremely bland. Oh oh look at me Ma, I found some gold! Oh oh oh, and a crashed probe! HOLY CRAP! I FOUND A SHADY SPACE COW!!(damn straight on the shady space cow)

Got: Johnny Depp looking moody and Christian Bale looking moodier

I was impressed with Thief, Heat, and Collateral, so I was deeply underwhelmed it was mostly Johnny Depp moping around (great acting, but still) and Christian Bale making no impression whatsoever.

Hell, it was the older guy who ended up giving Depp's last words to his girlfriend! Why wasn't he the main adversary? I mean, seriously, Bale was given absolutely nothing interesting to do throughout the whole movie!

I'm sorry, I almost got off off on a tangent. Seriously, that movie was a disappointment.

Evil Dead with Elvis.

What I got:
As awesome as 'Evil Dead with Elvis' sounds, this movie turned out to be something even better. A beautiful, subtle, moving film about growing old that made me want to hug my granny.

The Matrix Reloaded

What I expected:
The mother of all sequels.

What I got:
Keanu Reeves trying to emote and his naked ass at a fucking sweaty rave.

The Phantom Menace

What I expected:
Darth Fucking Vader

What I got:
Woefully acted emo sulking.

Yes I know he was only a kid in the movie, I meant the trilogy as a whole. Pedantic lot, aren't we?

And about the new Avatar: Yes, Soundwave was awesome but I'm awesomer and needed a change.

If you are going to label people fools, you might want to check your grammar and spelling in order to avoid comic irony.

If you had taken the time to actually read the other posts in the thread, or even the edit in the post, you would have seen that this has already been raised and discussed, and I acknowledged this long before you decided to contribute your astoundingly astute observations.

What I Got: The first Halo game with the four letters "ODST" at the end.

Fight Club
What I Expected: A mediocre film in which insecure frat boys explore their masculinity.

What I Got: An in-depth tale of surreality and perception. And Helena Bonham Carter's tits.

What I expected: Best fighting game ever.

melee is better.


brawl is for the kids that are slightly slow so they had to slow down the pace of the game...for those people to keep up with the character.

i have yet to be defeated in melee, but anyone can beat me in brawl, my brain acts faster than the game goes, so when im on my 5th button in a combo the game is like on the second and ignores the 3/4th input. its stupid.
