And after the comment he made earlier about taxing the hell out of coal power plants due to the greenhouse gases, he sure as hell isn't going to get PA. For some odd reason people don't like it when one of their major industries is going to be shut down.Erana said:Obama's going to win, but because America isn't very well educated, its going to be extremely close. Whomever gets Virginia and Pennsylvania is undoubtably going to win.
For the record, here's a few of the quotes off that speech:
"What I've said is that we would put a, uh, cap-and-trade system in place that is more -- that is as aggressive if not more aggressive than anybody else's out there. So if somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can. It's just that it will bankrupt them because they're going to be charged a huge sum for all that, uh, greenhouse gas that's being emitted."
But that makes it funny because earlier in the campaign he was for clean coal. But then there's the fact that he KNEW the result:
"When I was asked earlier about the issue of coal, uh, you know, under my plan of a cap-and-trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket."
That's partially true for the moment. Electricity rates are still locked till 2010, then we're screwed. Kinda obvious when about 59% of our power plants are coal fired. I'd like to know how he intends to make up that amount in some efficient manner. I really doubt he's going to vouch for nuclear.
