That's British slang for "This is most likely not even based on facts".

As the comedian Russell Howard puts it, the average Daily Mail headline is:
"DON'T GO OUTSIDE! It's full of queers, blacks and crime! Oh, if only Diana were here."

Which shows exactly how seriously that paper should be taken.
Sorry to be picky but I think he actually made that joke about the Daily Express funny joke all the same :p

Yeah. I, as a pedantic MTW nerd, would like to point out that the Daily Mail tend to go "ASBOs Muslims speed cameras speed cameras ASBOs Muslims speed cameras speed cameras".

But...though I'm inclined to take this with a pinch of salt the size of a polar bear, I am now 2% more scared.

I hope it isn't a lie. Cutting down on crime is always a good thing. I have nothing to hide as I don't commit crime!

I'm sorry, wasn't the US the first country to "OK" telephone surveillance and email screening?

I'd rather have some floating camera over me than someone reading my hate mail and hearing my prank calls to the Daily Mail...

Military-style spy planes 'to be used to target civilians in the UK'

I read there and stopped. Nothing good has ever come from that source.

Also wouldn't 1984 be a better choice than V for Vendetta? It's simpler, easily recognizable, and these situations are referred to as "Orwellian."
That's what I was thinking as soon as I started reading

This, oh-so-very-much. 1984 comparsion is much more fitting and appropriate.

Did you ever have any, any criticisms against existing gonverment? Will you ever have them? If yes, you are commiting a crime. A crime of thought.

Well, if the Daily Mail says it is bad. It must be good. That's how things work in the UK.

I for one shall be welcoming the drones!
Hehehehe...

[small]I for one, welcome our drone overlords![/small]

It's a step towards Deus Ex: Invisible War

For monitering public events, the drones would be useful, especially when it comes to tracking suspects through a dense crowd. Not so sure about their use on ordinary streets though, wouldn't it be simpiler and cheaper just to have an ordinary CCTV camera over watching a cash point, rather than a multi million pound spy plane?
