I am secretly responsible for all the funny on the escapist.

That hilarious joke about Michael Bay's mom you made on that thread about pokemon? That was me.

With a snap of my fingers, all the funny goes away. So yeah, I'm important.

In all seriousness, I may have brightened up someones day with my irreverent wit special ability (or with my avatar) and I may have educated someone about something that they could have learned from wikipedia.

I'd like to think my posts have had enough sustenance that people remember me for them

Also, my 2 reviews in which I basically shouted silly things, but everyone seemed to like them

Also, I'd change the banning system, as this is my first post after half-an-hour of mistaken identity and accidental perma-banning

Are you sure? That avatar of yours is strangely mesmerizing (And the girl is h4wt, but that's another topic altogether), makes me read your posts twice.
But think about this:If I did not have the cute Japanese girl as my avatar, would you read my posts twice?
.. Am I shallow if I have to admit no?

<_<
Yes,yes you are.But I won't mind. You can be shallow all you want for all I care.

I don't feel aprticularly important on here, no-one talks about me as a key memeber, though I feel I get along with everyone well enough..

I don't see anything that needs changing though, I like it here

well obviously one thing would be Zero Punctuation. But another thing would simply be these Discussion threads. I spend a lot of time on these threads. It's fun commenting on interesting topics with other escapists.

Though I've lurked around here for years, I've only started posting in the past six months. Thus, I'd be amazed if anyone had the foggiest notion who I was. Recognition isn't high on my priorities list, though.

As far as changes to the Escapist go, I'd really like off-topic discussion to be removed from the "Latest Posts" list on the home page. Also, a better search feature.

The community is great as is, for the most part. It's like any other group -- you have your goofballs, your know-it-alls, your grouches, your jerks, your sweethearts, etc. This wouldn't be much of a community if it weren't for all the differences we've got, be it personality, beliefs, ethnicity, games we play, or whatever. If I wore a hat, I'd tip it to the Escapist community. It's a fine crowd.

I doubt I've impacted the site in any way. I'm sure many know me as "that guy with the dancing ninja", but otherwise I haven't done jack in the 2 years I've been here >.>

As for what I'd change, it would be the elitism expressed by some members. Someone of my stature should not have to put up with such low-lifes!

not much outside of the fact that if it weren't for me Calumon would have broken up with Jack months ago (no I've never spoken to either of them, but it's true, I have a machine gun, mayonaise, and mustard, you can trust me)

I have no impact, every once in a while my boarding school stories seem to intrigue people, but otherwise my opinions and views seem to be consistantly in the minority, a role I actually enjoy tbh, i like to denigrate the big devs some here worship and to big up the smaller devs no one ever seems to care about ^^

I don't think I make much of an impact... maybe 0.02% if I'm quite lucky.

As for what I would change? Well the fixed coding in the Avatar size limits come to mind, but I think what Furburt said should be among top priority. Elitism is one of, if not the largest Escapist problem.

That or fixing the Searchbar. It's fairly difficult to use at times.

I don't really have any impact. I lurked for the majority of my time here, only now have I started posting more.

I can't think of anything I'd really like to change, but the Escapist is far from perfect.

So, My question this time around is:
How much do you think you impact the escapist as a user, and if you were able to change one thing for the better, what would it be?
I don't try to be elitist, but I do try to challenge people to hold reasoned premises, and I am a bit disappointed that when I act even mildly confrontational about this, it can be regarded as elitism and even landed me a forum punitive measure. Granted, I can get a tad abrasive when I'm feeling frustrated, and that was probably a contributing factor, but also it seems I come off as arrogant just for using relatively academic terms!

So, to a great extent, I would counter the sentiment "we could do without elitists" with the idea "we could use a far better criteria of what separates elitism from those interested in serious discussion." Because, lets face it, a lot of the time you can look at the top 5 post viewer and mildly face-palm over just how silly the topics showing there are, leaving a first impression that these forums only exist as a place for teens to shoot the breeze, and consequently we could use more serious discussion.

I don't consider my impact on this site very large. I've been here for about a year and a half, but most people have never even seen me.
In regards to what I would change...nothing glaringly obvious comes to mind. Sure, there are a few minor nuisances now and then, but they're all tolerable.

I have almost no impact, I post occasionally, but usually just flick onto threads with titles I find interesting.
