My best days as a healer where in Phantasy Star Universe. It may not be the TF2 medic, but still. I only had like, 2 offensive spells. Had a staff and rod of pure healing, and just ran around healing everyone who had pretty much any damage. I was well liked in that game.

C&C Renegade + ETQW + TF2 + Brink Medic here, healing others + killing people who don't see an attacking medic coming is awesome.
I am guessing the Renegade part was long ago?
If not, how?
Yeah, that was years ago... I miss that game.
Amen man. Amen. If I recall the engineers healed vehicles in that game right? I loved playing the specialist engineer. Hotwire I think was her name? I loved that game. My love of that class more or less turned itself into my love of engineer and medic in TF2.

Medics are a valuable asset in any battle, but I feel it also must be said that the players need to accomadate said medic as well as they should do the same for you.

1. Don't expect said medic to follow you into a certain death trap, say a room defended by three fully upgraded sentry guns. At the very least wait outside until he heals you before you undertake such a risk. he shouldn't have to follow you in there and die with you.

2. Don't keep calling out for one continuously, they heard you the first time. Some games even put a nice little "go help this guy" indicator on their radar. They know you're there after you said it once. You don't have to grate on them worse than Navi.

3. Don't complain when they don't save you because they're busy saving someone mission critical, say the guy next to the objective, or the only person who can complete the objective. They play to help the team win, not be your personal assisstant.

I love playing the medic class, feels good being able to contribute in a shooting game by doing something other than shoot people.

My eyesight is piss poor, I have trouble hitting anything. Whats that you say? Heal people? Oh I can do that, thanks valve. :D

And I choose to shoot you in the head.
Nah, actually, despite what Penny Arcade [http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2007/9/21/] tries to convince me of, I find Heavies a lot easier to shoot. Even with a Medic it just takes one fully loaded headshot.

Honestly though, it depends on the game. I'm often a Medic in Brink and Bad Company 2, laying down covering fire while helping out my teammates. In TF2 though it bores me, even though I once made a pretty decent Medic.
amen, my fellow sniper brother

I always played as a support role in all games with classes. Mostly medics and engineers though :D

I love the medic in BFBC2. Mostly because I can just use the M1 and heal myself when things get ugly, but I also like bringing people back to life. In the age of infinite respawn, killing your enemy is not nearly as satisfying as undoing their hard work.

while my first choice is always a class that gives me a sniper, my second choice is medic or priest or mage

There's not a whole lot more disheartening than killing a guy, getting gunned down by his medic and then watching the medic revive the guy you just downed.

Medics are a little OP in bad company 2 though. In the 8v8 ladder I was in it was just teams of medics with MG36 LMGs locked in an endless war until one team ran out of tickets.

The Engineer in Renegade had the ability to heal vehicles and players and had more explosives (especially Hotwire) so it was an awesome healing/destruction class. It was the first team+class based game that I ever played and I still hope for a revival some day.

I'd rather help a good Heavy as a Medic than be one myself and do nothing for the team. IT'S ALL ABOUT THE TEAM!
