I would personally love if it was set in Elsweyr as I really like the Khajiit but that's somewhat unlikely due to furryfobia. I would also love Valenwood as it sounds very interesting in lore.

This would be ideal and more realistic given some people's reactions to cat people.

I was going to say cat-land, but I guess it's called Elsweyr. However, I think I like the Khajit best when they're exotic.

I think we should raise the bar this time; why not do all of Tamriel? Give our technology a few years and a new generation, and I think it's possible. The only problem would be incredibly long travel times and creating a main quest that incorporated all the regions. Also, it would probably come on seven discs and take ten years to make.

For my money, stay in Skyrim. Just go back in time, and make some of those stories happen. You know, the ones filling everyone's bookcases? IT WAS YOU ALL ALONG!

Next location, you say? It needs to be in Hammerfell. Why?

Because they've got curved swords there.

Curved. Swords.

I think it would be sweet to have both Elsweyr and Black Marsh. They are both right next to each other geographically and can allow for crazy differences in terrain. Also, Argonians are awesome.

Either that or Summerset Isles. The Thalmor issue has to be dealt with.
I was going to go with just Eslweyr, but the Elsweyr and Valenwood could be pretty damn cool. Not entirely sure how that would effect gameplay and all that, but it's an interesting idea.

Assuming of course that technology hasn't come as far as I'd hope it would by the next Elder Scrolls game and they don't just give us everything.

I think Bethesda will set the next game in Elsweyr, why? Because alot of us are suggesting it.

Hammerfell; massive deserts, broken up by city-states and oases; a fertile coast and rugged mountains in the north. Even within the Redguard population, there would be significant cultural differences and such. It could even be set immediately after the events of Skyrim, with the war between the Thalmor and the Redguards continuing, with a power struggle within the indigenous population for leadership of the whole of Hammerfell.

Exactly.

How do you make a sword cooler? Make it curved!

Okay here's my theory:

First, I'll make a few assumptions:
1) I think its a reasonable to assume the next game will take place after Skyrim, and we'll get to fight the Thalmor some more.

2)It will not take place in Thalmor lands. Would just be horrible to play under.

3)It will not take place in Elyswhere (Khajit place) or Black Marsh (Argonian place). As Hides His Eyes said:
Hides His Eyes said:
I'm not sure they would work as the main population group or as the "main characters", the way Imperials or Nords do, because they are so foreign and alien.
. The next game will be expected to sell even more, and commercials showing mainly cat-people or lizard-people may not do so well with mainstream audiences. Remember that live action Skyrim commercial with the village? See any races other than human? Unfortunately, if point 2 doesn't kill the possibility of Valenwood, this probably will. Wood-Elves are more humanoid than Khajits and Argonians, but possibly not enough (giant migratory trees, though. How fucking cool is that?)

4)The game will have some new mechanic/ gimmick/ feature/ whatever you want to call it. They wont re-use dragons and Shouting, but its even less likely they'll go back to just: you, magic, swords, shields, killing lots of humanoids.

Now heres a little guess of mine: the next game will feature two provinces. Gaming will be much more powerful by then, and the other provinces don't seem varied enough. Gives you two base cultures, twice the variety, and twice the area. Seems a logical move to make in 3 or so years and a console generation.

So my guess: Hammerfell / High Rock

Evidence: Both humanoid, Hammerfell independent and still resisting Thalmor. Additionally, the presence of Orsinium (city state of the Orcs) in High Rock gives even more variety (deserts, tropics, north, mountains,forests...), as well as that much admired weirdness in Elder Scrolls games. Now, it mentioned that after Altmer, Redgaurds are the best sailors. From this, I get: sailing as the new mechanic, more variety/tropical islands/pirate themes in parts of the map, and a good way to incorporate in the war with the Thalmor. High Rock has mages, Hammerfell has naval power.

So thats my theory, tell me what you think of it. Of course, they may throw us a curveball and do Akavir.
It's an interesting idea, except, well... they've already done Hammerfell and High Rock. In the same game. And caused the "Great Cataclysm Of The Day" every location seems to have (Cyrodiil's Oblivion Crisis, Morrowind's Red Year, Hammerfell/High Rock's "Warp in the West", etc), so it doesn't seem likely that they'll return.

Personally, I'd like to see Sumerset Isle, but the lore thus far has made it not very game-friendly.

Can we stop this? No matter how many threads, no matter what province is said most, Bethesda will decide in the end and no amount of talking about it is going to change that. We have at least two years before the next one comes out. This is the tenth thread I've seen about this.

I would actually like to play a game set in Black Marsh. If you read "The Lusty Argonian Maid" books, you'll see it's a dark, horrible, inhospitable place filled with things like meat flies. Best part is that not only could it provide some hardcore moments of fighting death from the natural world (besides just monsters), there would be some places only Argonians could get to and so on and so forth.

But really, I would love to have a fight between Tamriel and Akavir. You see their katanas in oblivion (and I believe armor, it's what The Blades use) and in the guide to the world (I bought the Special Edition of Oblivion back in the day), it refers to the people of Akavir as rat-like people among other strange races. It would also spice up The Elder Scrolls, as it would bring new races, technology and cultures to fight against.

Elswyer would work since it's so varied. Jungles and deserts? Count me in!

As for the trouble for not having humanoids as poster children, Bethesda could do a cheap shot and say that it's now under imperial control. :p

Here you go.

It's still a decent game if you can get past the dated visuals and clunky interface.

I'd like to visit Black Marsh next, but that's mostly because I'm an Argonian fan. The landscape would lend itself well to having lots of varied enemies to fight (gator-like creatures, carnivorous plants, overgrown bugs, etc.).

I'd share my opinion, due to my extensive knowledge of the expanded universe and TES lore, but that usually takes a lot more time than for me to write this. USE THE SEARCH BAR, this has been done 3 times in the last fortnight and god-knows how many more since Skyrim's release!

The Pinray, great way to get across what the OP is oblivious to :D - lets hope he notices what you've done. :D

He might even find my detailed opinions in there somewhere, I've written in 3 of those but only extensively in 2.
