Anyway... this isn't really a monster that can be used for more than maybe 3 movies... but I'd like to see a movie with Cthulhu in it. At the very least. If I get to have my way (a few decades from now), I'll end up writing a screenplay for H.P. Lovecraft's "Shadow Over Innsmouth".
Simple, make a movie where the monster is Michael Atkinson. That'll scare people, or at the very least motivate them even more to try and kill the beast.

I think a good horror movie monster would be an creature that originated from beneath the earth's crust but has mutated from exting to the surface gaining new powers and an unsatiable thirst for carnage, and the twist ending would be that killing it causes it to emit a death cry which causes its brethren to surface and under go the same mutation causing te apocalypse
I think it should originally look harmless but undergoes the transformation within a weeks time so that we can get a hint of it's normal behavior and that the blood lust is not the norm
this would also have potential for a sequel where a group of survivors attempt to take back the planet from these beasts
