It seems the only three options are available:
1. Don't break the law; annoy them.
Simply do everything they hate in front of them. That'll show them.

2. Break the law; annoy/attack them.
It's well known that fear is a brilliant weapon to get your way. As are killer bees.

3. Change the law; stop them coming back.
I know that you're probably in America and everyone has the freedom to this and that, etc., but judging by how we've banned any and all WBC protesting in England by law (due to the hateful nature of their protests that offend everyone but them, they kinda lose their freedom to protest here), I don't see why America can't follow suit. Seriously, try getting a bill passed for your town/city/state; it might not work, and it 'll take forever, but at lest if it's passed, any more funerals will be done in peace.

So escapist, what should we do about it?
I will be standing outside of the church to support the family, if they do happen to show up and disrupt the funeral, what should we do? Complain to the police that they're disturbing the police? Pretend we can't hear them?

I just have no clue what to think about this...

It's a federal offense to protest within 300 feet of a funeral as per the Respect for America's Fallen Heroes Act signed by Bush. Many states have also extended this range to 500 feet. I suggest you look up your local laws and inform the police about the protest. Chances are they'll interpret the distance as liberally as possible. Because doesn't the funeral entail the use of the entire cemetary? Thats 300 feet from the cemetary and 300 feet from the funeral home, that should keep them well and far away.

Make sure the police are there to prevent the use of loudspeakers. I know people on the internets have an ingrained distrust of police but they are there for things like this and I suggest you make use of them.

I would get a counter-protest going but if I was just driving down the street and saw them picketing a funeral I would probably lose "control" of my car and have it unfortunatly slam into them at 90mph. Although dressing up like anonymus or driving by and blasting its raining men sounds equally amusing.

As a resident of Kansas, I believe I have the perfect solution for dealing with Westboro. This method is tried-and-true; being adapted by Kansasans who hate the fact that Westboro calls their state home.

Normally I would suggest a rifle and a good vantage point, but that would just make them "martyrs"...

So instead I recommend buying at least 8 large speakers and a sound system, and blast a Rickroll at them whenever they protest.

And if the police break you up on disturbing the peace, you can take the WBC down with you.
