i tell you what i look forward too

[if i go to hell]

being chained to a wall beaten and what ever else and then i look up and see Members of the Westboro Baptist Church goin into the much Rougher area of hell
Not to nit-pick, but wouldn't looking down show more punishment in hell, should we believe Dante Alighieri.

I do hope some sort of counter protest is planned. Shouting them out may not fix the problem, but it will allow you not to have to hear them

I do hope the Hell's Angels perform another counter-protest.

If only because being intimidated by badasses for protesting a funeral seems like karma working as intended.

Read their release note...thing. So they think Pennsylvania is evil, eh?

News for you WBC. We may be evil, but at least we're not idiots. Except for the top brass in Harrisburg.

WHY WON'T ANONYMOUS STRIKE DOWN THEIR SITE!? It only seems logical that they should.
Because it does nothing, these people don't rely on the internet on their website, they rely on the attention the media give them. The only effective counter would be to continuously picket the WBC itself, like Operation Chanology
I think it would do something. Even if their operations aren't directly hindered, the WBC might see that there is a lot of people that disapprove. There are already a lot of people that hate them, but a group attack over the internet could be symbolic of it.

Still though, this would be the first time Anonymous attacked a group for a truly important purpose.

Firstly I don't like Jackass, I never found it funny, I think Bam Magera or whatever is a jerk and I rarely ever watched the show. However I find the fact that these so called evangelists, these christians who are so devout and religious and oh so fucking pious think it's okay to picket a man's funeral for whatever reason (the reason being they think he's a filth monger).

As an atheist this is what I fucking hate about religious fundamentalists. These maniplulating maniacs who take one small part of their scripture or religions history and make it all about that. The people who are picketing Ryan Dunns funeral are forgetting that 1. God loves everyone equally no matter what they do. 2. Treat thy neighbour as you would like to be treated as in respect others and you yourself will be respected. 3. he's a filth monger is he? well jesus hung around with a prostitue does that make him a bad guy? 4. Jesus didn't treat that prostitue like shit so why do you have the right to do this to Ryan Dunn? 6. He who is without sin cast the first stone.

Also people moan and shout about muslim extremists until the sun goes down but when it comes to the western christian ones few people do more than pause while eating their cornflakes. I genuinely hope they are prevented from picketing Mr Dunns funeral and prevented from getting any kind of coverage or platform to gain attention.

become a national hero and receive countless gifts while serving a life long prison sentence?

You know, one crazy homeless guy out there must realize that life as a hero in prison is rationally a better decision then staying a homeless non-entity...

I understand where you're coming from with this, I really do, but online "hactivists" aren't exactly the flavour of the month right now, thanks to certain groups and because people in general tar all the internet with the same brush. I still believe Anon could do some good, like the Scientology protests where physical protests were mounted, but that would require balls that Anon seems to have forgotten it had.

EDIT: My 100th post!! Huzzah!!

Don't feed the trolls. Don't start threads like this. Don't even ask yourself why and eventually they will go away.
As much as I'd love to rationalize the WBC as simply trolling, I really don't think ignoring them will make them go away. Some people really are that batshit insane.

If he was drunk, and the driver was drunk, I say picket away. Did you see the wreck? They were in the wrong one way or another. Either as speeding, or drunk driving.

I need to research this more perhaps. The I can say how much crap this jackass deserves. Did you see the pics he posted a few hours before the crash??

Otherwise, I say, good for you WBC. It's nice to see you giving shit to people who deserve it. But since they are already dead, is it good to remind the family members left that must pick up the pieces?

The drunks killed a third party, eh?

Don't quote me if I'm wrong on the details, I'll edit this soon.
Far from good for the WBC.

To start, picketing a funeral, even if it were someone who "deserved it" (In my opinion Dunn comes no where close to that) is never a good thing. The person is already dead, all that is doing is hurting loved ones who are already mourning even more. It's just a terrible thing to do period, as all it does is cause pain to people who already just lost a brother/friend/son/etc.

No one here knew Ryan Dunn, and because of that there is a frighteningly large amount of people on here who say the equivalent of "He got what he asked for" or "Who cares, he never contributed anything, he was a jackass." He was also a human being, and from what people who actually knew him have said, he sounds like damn good one. Much better than anyone on this site who says disrespectful and inhumane things about his life and death.

I'm not meaning to single you out, and I know you said don't quote you, but a large part of this community has been disgustingly disrespectful about this whole thing.
It's good to see someone bringing attention to drunk driving being horrible.

I say : Keep it up, even tho it's at the expense of innocent family members. That's the price of making money off of popularity.

Yeah, I have a dark mind set on this.
What?
They AREN'T bringing attention to drunk driving be horrible! They're being bigoted hate-filled assholes. They hate Ryan Dunn because he was a "sinner" They list a skit where he put a toy car up his ass as one of the reasons for picketing the funeral.

There are many real organizations that actually have the intentions of stopping people from driving drunk and do many things to inform people about the effects it has.

The WBC's intentions is too make money and hurt people.

Saying "It's good to see someone bringing attention to drunk driving being horrible." is not only completely undermining real organizations that do this, but it is also not the Wesboro Baptist Church's intentions.

I legitimately do not believe that the Westboro Baptist Church is serious. They're such massive trolls; there is no way any person, no matter how irrational, could do stuff like this:

http://www.godhatesfags.com/audio/index.html#parodiesPlaylist

You see that? That was a list of all of the popular songs that Westboro Baptist Church has parodied. Yes, PARODIED. They cannot realistically be invested in their cause if they did a rendition of "American Idiot" re-titled "American Sodomite". As little faith in humanity I have left, that little bit prevents me from believing that so many people can simultaneously be so hateful AND idiotic.

Perhaps I just don't want to believe they're serious though...

I know there is such a thing as freedom of speech, but speaking ill of the dead like this makes me want to consider if we should limit it.
No, no we shouldn't. When someone like the WBC creeps up, you let them spew their bile, but you ignore it.
Something tells me the WBC isn't doing what they do because some guy on the internet created a thread about them. Just saying.

But I fully agree that we should do nothing to limit Freedom of Speech. Yes, I capitalized it. It deserves it. As much as it pains me to admit, the Supreme Court got the ruling right. The WBC is protected by the First Amendment. Like you said, let them spew their bile and ignore it. The vast majority of people know they are crazy anyway. Just look at this thread. I've not seen anyone defending the actions of the WBC.

Meh, I liked Ryan Dunn but I'm not surprised nor do I care what Westboro do. One of these days they'll pick on the wrong group or person and they're seriously going to not be alive to regret it.

Oh well, don't really care too much, they deserve what's coming to them any-who, I hope some fan beats a few of them up and then the police coming to split them up beat the shit out of the Westboro Baptist church idiots instead. They seriously need some sense knocked into them. Or brain cells at all for that matter....

Eh, Cthulhu will eat them last anyways.
Okay, now that the quitessential Lovecraft reference is out of the way, here's my oppinion:
These losers just want attention. That's literally all it is. They want it from the public, so they protest funerals and stand on street corners with rude signs, they want it from Christians like me so they say that God wants them to do this, and they want it from the media, so they do all of the above.
Then again, Ryan Dunn's funeral? I'm sure the other members of Jackass are going to be there, and I doubt that they're going to take kindly to idiots protesting their friend's funeral. The WBC would be foolish to not know that those guys probably have a temper, and that they're probably going to get attacked. I bet you that they want to get attacked; they want attention. Like a child, they don't care if it's positive or negative attention, any will do.
All I know is that this probably won't end well.
