Excellent book by the way, I wrote a review about it for this site but alas, it died very quickly.

Interesting I'll have to look it up after I read it. My girlfriend is currently reading it, and is loving it.

That said, though, it's fairly obvious when you think about it.

Just about everybody in the game appears to be infected with greed. The scientist whose logs you recover at first goes emotionally dead and greedy and then steadily more crazy. The guy who runs the arena is upset you didn't die for his audience. And so on. It seems to be the central theme the game was developed around, as though Pandora has this effect on people of making them greedier.
