Absolutely! But then again I'm in the know. I've been secretly working for them for years!

according to the Cthulhu Mythos i think that a race of beetle people follow us.

I think that chimps, dolphins, and squids are the most logical next step.

Shoot i hope they all come to power at about the same time.

Won't be animals, insects are going to be the next rulers. They're the ones that can withstand all that rotting tissue.

Octopi. They are intelligent and have arms that can easily build a civilisation.

Dolphins may be smart, but lacking any hands etc all they can hope for is getting smarter, not making life safer or better for themselves.

Either Dolphins or Squids.

Dolphins can learn to use tools, Squids can contol complex camoflauge.

Maybe they will both evolve and fight wars with each other.

If you take a closer look, what do you escapists think about ants?
Well, they have a collectivist society, but it's too based on war and the lifespan's too short to really be candidates.

I don't think you know what the word "sentience" means.
Ya, I think I got it mixed up with sapience. I'll change that...

Most lightly hood is none. Most biologists now believe that what ever happened to our brain to make us who we are had a once in a billion chance of happening. A cat is more lightly to born with feathers.

None. Dolphins already did it, they live in underwater cities waiting for a chance to strike <.<
No, you're thinking of pigs, and thus far they've only done small guerilla tactics.

you gotta define it better.

there are several animals that have shown that they can look in a mirror and recognize themselves: whales, dolphins, elephants...etc...

Just cause we're the worlds best engineers (yay thumbs!) doesn't mean there aren't other smart self-aware animals. Sorry for gushing, but it's true.

personally, I think that whales and dolphins are already sentient. They have already been found to have a lot of the neuronal components scientists thought were uniquely human.

i read a study that said "cooking meat" is one of the things that really helped to develop the brain and to make a distinct difference from the early human and its counterparts

so when i see a "house of steaks" oppened by an orangutan i will know that we are doomed.
