how bout a spitting lizard from jurassic park pokemon? a prehistoric rock/poison type
Not all sharks are created equal. Sharpedo is clearly modeled after a combination of Great White and Tiger sharks (with no tail). Cookiecutter sharks have round, lamprey-like mouths and long, barracuda-like body structure. There are a dozen or so tropical fish type Pokemon (we have two piranhas, for God's sake!), and at least as many mice and similar rodents. Why must there be only one shark?
Speaking of a bazillion kinds of fish, where are the swordfish, sailfish, or marlon? Where are the whelk Yahtzee made up in his Pokemon review (yes, I know Magcargo is a snail. a snail is not a whelk any more than it's a conch... also why no conch)? I'm still waiting for a Kraken or Fire Octopus evolution of Octillery.
Speaking of mythical critters, as much as I like Chandelure and its family (very cool pokemon, in my opinion), I was a little disappointed there were no flaming skull pokemon, perhaps an evolution of Spiritomb, perhaps with Cubone's skull so it can have a special evolution method. (It could be tricky and be actually ghost/ice or ghost/ground type.) And what about a poltergeist (sorry, but rotom is not good enough)? It could be easy justification for a ghost/psychic or ghost/steel type.
How long is it going to take before they make a roach? Surely they're the most common bug next to houseflies (which I'm perfectly fine not seeing as a pokemon, thank you. and no, Pawniard is not a roach. It's a beetle, very similar to a dung beetle). Or the Red "Fire" Ant, Durant is a step in the right direction, but its not quite there.
Surely there's possibility for some odd combinations too. If Deerling can be Normal/Grass, why not have a Husky or Malamute as Normal/Ice type?
Dinosaurs are another fertile source of inspiration, such as Dimetrodon, Ankylosaurus (Groudon doesn't count, I wants me a hammertail), and Stegosaurus.
