Guitar Hero: Remember at the turning point in the last generation, on the PS2 something called Guitar hero launched? No? Most of us haven't. Guitar Hero 3 is where things got bigger. Activision got involved, and the original makers of GH went on to make Rock Band. But at the start of this generation, plastic instument flailing was at it's peak, making it defining by my standards.
I would argue that Rock Band is a better example that Guitar Hero. Pretty much the same gameplay, but with the addition of drums and vocals, plus a library that could be exported from game to game (for the most part), and the introduction of DLC tracks. Rock Band brought a lot of good to the music game genre that Guitar Hero really took a while to catch up on.

CoD4
Mass Effect (series)
Bioshock
Uncharted
Red Dead Redemption
Assassin's Creed (series)
Portal (series)
Fallout (series)

10 years from now, I think those game will still be remembered as "classics". There are others that were popular, but I think those will most stand out.

Dragon Age: Origins, Infamous 1 and 2, Portal 1 and 2, Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2, Bastion, Minecraft, Assassin's Creed 2 and Brotherhood, Xenoblade Chronicles, Fallout 3 and New Vegas, Journey, Bioshock, CoD 4 for pulling a Halo and changing the face of console shooting, Mass Effect, The Last Story, Saints Row 2, Batman: Arkham, Uncharted 2, Heavy Rain, LoZ: Twilight Princes (Skyword Sword gets in on high on the Zelda fans list), and Dark Souls, are about all I have, at the moment. There are plenty of others that would get a cult status, like Enslaved, but those are the titles that are easily the most important for me.

You can probably remove about a third of your list. Sorry, but some of those have barely registered as a blip on the gaming radar. And no, Lost Odyssey is not the best JRPG - see the 3 games above.
Being unpopular doesn't make something not a classic. There are many games from our past that, when released, were almost completely ignored. Now many of those titles are widely regarded as being some of the best of the time. I cannot think of an example at the moment, which doesn't exactly serve my point.

I won't get much support for this, but nonetheless am going to throw it out there: Dead Rising. It deserves to be considered a classic for the simple fact that it attempted something very novel, and pulled it off remarkably well.

I second most of the entires listed (Portal 2, LBP, etc.). I'll also add the Pikmin series, though it'll likely be a cult classic.

Also, the Persona series, (especially Persona 4).

Planescape: Torment didn't do amazingly well on release, but people are still singing it's praises to this day.

Just curious. What would you consider classics from last gen? People are making large lists of good games but last ten had arguably more good games than this gen
