So the beginning of Borderlands 2's tentative release dates (April 2012-March 2013) and I was wondering what fellow Borderlands fans want in the new installment. I would personally like some DLC classes, maybe the original ones. I don't want to experiment with a new class, I want Roland xD.

So what are your thoughts?

An actual story is what I'm hoping for.

It's sad when the intro cutscene to your game is where nearly all of your game's story and character background/development are found.

Oh, and an ending that won't make it onto my 'worst game endings of all time' list. That's important too.

Beat me to it.

An ending that isn't complete shiite.

Also perhaps fewer guns but more drastic differences between the effects of the fewer guns. Give us a reason to use one gun or another depending upon the situation. That way we hoard weapons. Borderlands was just an exercise is use whatevers most powerful until you find something even more powerful then use that.

The first game became unbelievably boring due to me having become overpowered as hell and able to just plow through everything I came across. The UI was also awful. I hope they improve upon these two.

Also, NO. FUCKING. GAMESPY.

This seems to be what most RPG fans want though, due to it offering more customization options. Just look at the backlash ME2 got from using less weapons instead of just giving you the boring task of replacing old weapons with the same, but slightly better new weapons.

More gun variations. I swear, Borderlands really only had like 8-10 gun models. A gun crafting system would be nice too.

And they need to implament a system like Skyrim's Radiant Story that can give out a nigh unlimited amount of simple quests so you always have at least something to do.

Yeah, I like this idea too. I found that some of the most fun weapons in the game were the odd ones, like Shotguns that fired rockets or Revolvers that spray out a whole bunch of rounds with each trigger pull.

To add to the general idea of variety though... I'd also like to see more varied enemies. At the VERY least do what Blizzard does and give each enemy a palette swap from time to time.

A game that doesn't turn to absolute shit 1/2 way through.

Once you hit the town it becomes the most boring game ever.

Also, make better skills that aren't all passive.
Why? Passive skills means you don't have to faff about hitting buttons and they work constantly. I would much rather my accuracy be 10% better all the time than pressing a button and it be 10% better for 30 seconds.

I want to play as Roland again, that dude was OP! The others were useless, a melee guy in a ranged game? A woman who's special power is a "skip this bit" and another dude who specializes in a gun that doesn't scale well or ironically is inaccurate (sniper rifle) and hand guns that are useless in every game! (I have yet to find a game with a decent hand gun against assault rifles).

I want less "go here and come back" quests, that shit is annoying! You end up playing a game that is basically a spider diagram. Go from the middle to some place to the east, then back to the middle to get a quest to the north ... then back to the middle for a quest to the south aaand then back to the middle for a quest in the east again!

Also fix the damn find X amount of Y item quests. I go into an area it tells me my first item is at the back of the area, pick it up and the next one is at the front of the area, followed by one at the back but slightly to the left. Guide me to the one closest to me or not at all!

This can happen if you over-level, which is really easy to do. They *do* need to fix that leveling system.

Yeah, I mean how was I supposed to know whether I was over-leveling if I couldn't even visit the next area? I avoided any unnecessary battles in fear that I might become overpowered and only did all of the available sidequests and I still became WAY too powerful.

I said not "all passive", a bit of variety never bloody hurt. It doesn't all have to be skill boosts if you had any imagination, why not an ability for say... Lilith that gave you mind control over 1 enemy or say give Brick the ability to dual wield for a short time (I know you can in BL2).

Roland isn't OP. It was proven that Lilith can achieve the highest DPS out of all 4 characters using skills and the 4 bullet SMG.

Mordecai isn't bad and the fact you call handguns useless shows you barely even played as him. I used revolvers and handguns and dominated the whole game, especially with the revolvers that fire 6 bullets per bullet.
She might have the most DPS but I assume it's a very specified build you have to do and certain guns you have to get to achieve that DPS. Roland is just do whatever and win, a turret that can heal, give out free ammo, shoot missiles, fire fairly quickly and can throw it down almost constantly is certainly OP to me. (I don't think you can get all that going on at once though)

Even if Brick could dual wield and Lilith could mind control or Mordecai could change the stats on a gun once per gun, I would still choose passive. It's batter to have an ability constantly active than only active for a few seconds every few seconds, same goes for all games.

I played as all characters for about 20 minutes, before concluding Roland was just far ahead of the others.

Lilith was actually pretty ridiculously overpowered. With the right skill choices, class mod, and an elemental SMG you can dish out DPS that the other classes can only do in their dreams. And you can even spec to have your special ability have a shorter cooldown *and* heal you for a pretty respectable percentage of your total health, effectively making it one of the best "oh shit!" keys out there.

I liked Roland a lot too, but Lilith is definitely better than you give her credit.

No Gamespy, it killed the online co-op on the PC in like a week after release
An ending that...well yeah, AN ENDING (you can still add DLC episodes Gearbox, but make a conclusive ending to the campaign)
Character development, maybe add some class-specific quests and maybe add some scenes to help flesh out the characters instead of making us read the manual
A few extra gun types, sure we had the assault rifles, revolvers, pistols, rocket launchers, snipers and shotguns with 4 elements but maybe make some of the unique guns more unique than "Slightly stronger pistol that fires electricity".
Less fetch-quests, I've finally gotten sick of these (Thank you Skyrim) so right now I'd love to see some side-missions with some variation to them
More enemy types. After fighting through the tenth room of identical things it'd be nice to just add some variation to them.

I actually dont care too much about it having a good story, thats not really what Borderlands is about. Sure it'd be nice andI'd be all for it but It wouldnt be necessary for my enjoyment.

Uh things I want, Id like Launchers to not be useless, because that was the main reason I never used Brick, he's fun to play as, its just the weapons he specializes in are complete shite, and not just that, but they're rare as hell too.
Uh I'd also like some better snipers, Snipers were fine in 1 except for one thing, its was freaking rare to find one with a scope of more than x1 !! At least make it so that the standard zoom in is x1.5 or x2, with the exception of Jacobs of course.
Make Lilith less OP, seriously when you're playing with friends it gets really annoying how the one playing Lilith will pretty much do everything by the end of the game. And not just that but if you play her right, she can never die and never run out of ammo.

I think thats everything for now

I'm not sure what to expect, and even though I LOVED Borderlands; I'm not at all hyped for Borderlands 2. I'm gunna have to wait and see how it does, and even if it does well I'm going to wait for the release with all the DLC included.

If there one thing I don't want in Borderlands 2; it's more Hunter's with the bird skill that flings money all over the place. Being a Berserker and having your 3 'friends' sit in the back with their fucking birds causing fountains of useless change to litter the ground... Then naturally the game's framerate drops to about 10fps because of the fucking loot everywhere. Most. Annoying. Skill. EVER.

One thing I do want; more use for money. This also ties into how useless that skill mentioned above is. I can't think of anytime through the 100+ hours I spent in Borderlands that I ran out of money or couldn't afford something. We need to be able to use our money for other purposes than buying new weapons/shields/upgrades.

Damn that was conclusive.

The fact mordecai gets a bird that can hit and insta kill 8 enemies then recharge in about 15 seconds flat while healing you means nothing?
Even faster if you have that perk that cuts off like half a second for each time you hit an enemy with a sniper bullet
