DLC taking precedence over actual game development time. It's already starting to happen, you think purposely leaving out content in order to nickle and dime your customers ie. Skate 2 and the "Filmer Pack" (having to pay for more camera options and storage space) is bad now? Just wait till these fuckers end up charging you to view game endings, wait no, sorry *turns on bullshitting marketing voice* "extended gameplay sequences".

2009 will be the death of used-market gaming thanks to DLC.

At the moment, I'm mostly hoping the economy will pull out of its nosedive. Otherwise, the impact of "Gaming in '09" could be awful. Right now a massive amount of air is being let out of the gaming development talent pool.

you can feel the disturbance too? i thought it was only me...hmm we are well trained in the jedi arts and yes the day twiglight comes out i officially start my underground society and anyone who wants to join is more then welcome seeing as we need a whole society and its only a few people so far.

Mine is that they either A)keep on giving teasers for Bioshock 2 but don't release the game till like '10 OR it does arrive, i eagerly buy the game, and it turns out it got the Sequel Curse, i.e. programmers got lazy and did the same game, but worse.

Agreed, although i'm scared that a)everything that comes out this year will be crappy sequels, or b)all that comes out for the 360 will be DLC.

That is all thats coming to the 360 - PC ports, expansion packs and DLC, and flaming wrecks. What else did you expect?

Edit: Ok, since someone is gonna call me on this, they also have Star Ocean.

I'm not particularly concerned. I'm fairly realistic in my view of the year to come. Street Fighter IV looks awesome and aggravating in equal measures. God of War 3 will probably look good but have too many QTEs for killing things a too convoluted boss battle and leave me cold. Bioshock 2 will probably be out early 2010 as will Uncharted 2 both will probably be good when they get here, just a matter of when. Out of the new original titles, my theory is that only one will actually be any good.

I dunno. While gaming is not recession proof, I think gaming talent might be. Think about it - Of the people who have actually been trimmed away - it might sound very callous, but were they really that good? The last game made by Pandemic - Destroy All Humans 2 - was practically the definition of mediocrity. The people Sega trimmed were responsible for Shadow the Hedgehog. And Eidos....

I would like to believe that those trusted with the business decisions of layoffs also had enough presence of mind to understand artistic talent when they see it and deliver the ax justly to those who fail to deliver. However, I've seen too many good game development companies shut down to believe that the business world considers artists as anything other than an exploitable commodity.

im sick of seeing sequels to be honest. its a great idea but i really hate MOST sequels. half life 2 is fun but as ramthunder said the sequel curse usually screws a game/movie up so bad that they mostly stop trying. im actually hoping for a original game

That Dragon Age sucks and the sick day I used to play the game was wasted.
