I believe you're speaking of Myst IV?LookingGlass said:Also, is it just me or would a Myst-style game where you explore an island with today's graphics (possibly still going the pre-rendered route for maximum beauty) be particularly awesome?
The White Room was pretty overrated, I thought. Absolutely terrifying - possibly even more than Amnesia if you have the right disposition and mood - but it resorted to "Rule Of Scary" too often - that is, logic can be utterly disregarded if it makes it scarier. Great for movies, not so great for adventure games. Cutting a chain with an axe? I know that chains are more atmospheric than ropes, and that axes are more primal than bolt cutters, but ropes go with axes and bolt cutters go with chains, and I never would have cut the chain if I had not resorted to the "rub everything on everything" approach.Aethren said:If you can find it, The White Room is the best game of all listed.
Ah, I'd mistakenly assumed that all of the Myst games in existence were on GOG. Looks like I'll have to wait for this one to appear. It doesn't seem to be available for download anywhere presently.lacktheknack said:I believe you're speaking of Myst IV?LookingGlass said:Also, is it just me or would a Myst-style game where you explore an island with today's graphics (possibly still going the pre-rendered route for maximum beauty) be particularly awesome?
Yes, that was 2004 or so, but it was damned pretty then and it's still damned pretty now. Plus, you get an in-game journal and camera.
I love Machinarium! I can thoroughly reccommend it. The art style and atmosphere is amazing, and the puzzles... well, clever while not being too frustrating.excusablegold said:i would have to say machinarium. it was in the humble indie bundle at some point.
oh and any of the games by cyberdreams (the guys who made i have no mouth and i must scream and dark seed)
Three is worth a purchase, as it has FREAKING BRAD DOURIF PLAYING THE BAD GUY. That's right, the actor behind horror icon Chucky starred in a Myst game. He's absolutely perfect for the part, and more than makes up for the face-clawing navigation in the Tree age.LookingGlass said:Ah, I'd mistakenly assumed that all of the Myst games in existence were on GOG.
