What bands/artists do you listen to that aren't nearly as good as they used to be?

I can't think of any bands that are as good as they used to be, except Tool unless their new album doesn't turn out as good as 10,000 Days. Then again, I prefer Lateralus.

1. Avenged Sevenfold. used to be a great band, then when they released City of Evil I lost all faith in them.

I guess it's because you didn't like how they changed their style to something more punkish. City Of Evil has some of their best melody's, the albums after I couldn't enjoy at all though cause all of it was so weak and even more commercial.

3. Eminem, his older stuff was sheer brilliance, I have no idea what happened.

That's most bands/singers/rappers really. I'm trying to figure out that mystery and it's usually because their interests change and they try to keep it the same as their old work which doesn't work apparently. They must move on to something new if they still want to be as successful.

I'm not trying to start an argument but they didn't change to more of a punkish sound. They changed to a more straight up radio metal sound. They were more punkish before City of Evil.

Lol I know some people like that. At least you know they were around before that album. I know some people who think thats their first cd that claim to be fans of the band. Also MTV gave them the award for best new band when CoF came out and I was like...seriously? These guys aren't new lol

Genesis. After Phil Collins left it's just not the same.

The guitar is still pretty damn good, but the music they produce now isn't anywhere near what it used to be.

That's what a friend of mine said, that it started to sound more punkish to him so he couldn't listen to the album, and I can see what he means. I can also understand what you mean by radio sound. Could word it better by saying they have become more commercial, which I kinda mentioned.

I don't have a problem with commercial bands, but when a non commercial band sells out to make more moneyz then I get bothered by it.

I'm mainly talking about their first three albums. I would call them all metal but it's just the way how they changed their vocal style on City Of Evil and how they became a more commercialized band then is where a lot of people split. They did become more commercial but I think it has more to do with because their interests changed, not cause they're selling out (and I believe that goes for Metallica too).

I only like the first three Avenged Sevenfold albums, nearly all the songs on those albums had good melody's. I can't listen to anything after because I find all their new songs so weak. And yes, I have gone through them all. Don't let me bother you though.

The Black Keys went downhill fast. The last good project they worked on was the Chulahoma EP, and that was all covers. They really went downhill after Magic Potion.

That, and Smashing Pumpkins. I've never heard of a band going from fantastic to awful literally overnight, but that's pretty much what happened. Mellon Collie and the Infinate Sadness was such a great album, and Adore was so incredibly terrible... It all went downhill when Billy Corgan shaved his head.

Suicidal Tendencies.
Started out as a punk band, progressed into crossover thrash and were at their peak. Then they decided to introudce funk to their songs and take away the thrash elements more and more.

First three albums were pure gold. What I've heard from afterwards... not as great.

Their first two albums were metalcore, not screamo, but that's another conversation. Well metalcore has it's roots in hardcore punk and you can hear it, especially on Sounding the Seventh Trumpet.

Screamo is more of a combination of hardcore punk and emo where metalcore is a combination of metal and punk. That's pretty much it
