Humanity.
It's a rather long and arduous solution, but a combination of:
- Killing dragons for sport, revenge, or treasure.
- Spoiling their natural habitat through the dumping of toxic chemicals in water sources, deforestation, etc.
- A superior being commands that we do so, as the dragon is a vile creature, not beloved of god.
- Because we can.
But that's too realistic, so I'll go with the humorous, and apparently, answer by consensus.
