It was a particular episode of Zero Punctuation. I'd been watching it on and off but the inFamous vs Prototype episode made me sign up here. I'll never forget how I laughed at that 'emo Peter Pan' line.

This one is amused by the sheer number of "Zero Punctuation was my gateway drug" responses.

....So anyway, Zero Punctuation was my gateway drug.

I was sitting in the college computer lab one day discussing the value of good female characters with some friends I was trying to make a game with. So I Googled "female characters in games" or something similar. Extra Credits came up. Within a day, I'd watched every single one of their videos (that was late 2010 or early 2011). I found Yahtzee a few days later and didn't like him at first, but I warmed up to him.

Then Extra Credits left the Escapist, and I stopped posting for the most part and spend more time on Extra Credits' new site. I do occasionally drop by for Yahtzee and Jim and just recently, Moviebob for his Hunger Games review. Sometimes there are interesting threads too.

So the order of stuff I came here for:

1. Extra Credits (75%)
2. Zero Punctuation (10%)
3. Jimquisition (10%)
4. Other (5%)

I was on TV Tropes reading the page on SSBB for some reason and I got to the page for the trope "Marth Deduted In Smash Bros." and the page quote was
Yahtzee said:
Who the fuck is Marth, and why is unlocking him considered a reward?
I then looked up Zero Punctuation and found the Mincraft review on YouTube. After that I came to The Escapist to watch more and I've been here since.

I was tired of immature forums and my brother told me about some forum on the same site as Zero Punctuation that didn't rely on dick jokes. I started lurking and eventually made an account. Been fun.

I was bored and reading excerpts from reviews of this "little known" game that I really liked, called Portal.
Pretty much everything was written in your typical formal reviewer-speak, until I read something written by this dude called Yahtzee, who described the game as being "the most fun you'll have with your PC until they invent a force-feedback codpiece". I was intrigued.
I read some more quotes by this guy, and before long I started watching his show on The Escapist. From then on, I lurked on the forums for a while, until I finally made an account. And here I am.

I remember the day vividly.

The escapist was in turmoil, millions were dying everyday, it was terrible.

I watched from the heavens, unable to help my children, the rights of my summoning had not been completed.

When suddenly, a lone poster cried out in desperation, 'Daystar! Save us!'.

And then it was so.

I descended from the heavens, bathed in etheral light, and saved you all.

You're welcome.
And lo did Daystar decend from the heavens and screw up everything!

The mortals demanded he return to the plane of existence from whence he came. But refuse he did for his task was not yet done.

His true purpose is unknown to the lowers but one thing is sure.

The Escapist will burn.

Those four days I was here before you were so bleak... So cold...

OT: A friend showed me Yahtzee's "SSBB" review, followed by his response video. I thought it was funny, so I stayed.

used to use it for Urealms, nothing else really, when Urealms left I came back a year later after finding a link to ZP's Saints row 2 review (on a forum on Urealms website funnily enough) and then I decided to make this account

Can`t remember what episode it was, but my older brother showed me one of Yahtzee`s reviews, and it made me laugh quite hard. SO i started checking the site more frequently, and eventually started lurking the forums. After a while of doing that, i decided to make a user.
And voila, here i am.
good times.

Imagine the damage I could do if I had some actual power...

A friend showed me unforgotten realms. Thats when I first learned about the escapist, then I promptly forgot about it until I found a ZP video.

What, and I have the Ammy avatar for the sake of irony?

Nah, I'm not the bad. I wouldn't mind being a mod though, sounds like a fun job.

I feel like my answer is going to be like most others here. Ended up watching a Zero Punctuation review, then watched every one of his reviews, and stuck around. Got an account and...the rest is history.

Ammy?

Avatar?

AMMYTAR!!!!

I dunno if I could remain impartial enough to be a mod. I'd see a post that annoyed me but doesn't actually break any rules and I'd want to get all....modular on it.

Captcha: No Way

.....Is captcha giving me a sarcastic "no way"? I swear that thing is becoming sentient.

That was bad and you should feel bad.

Well I was a law student, so impartiality is a trait I consider one of my strong points.

Well I'd been coming onto the Escapist for nothing more than Zero Punctuation for about 8 months I think. I started reading it more when I began following the California/Supreme Court Videogame thing since they seemed to have the best coverage (that and Game Politics).

Also I started coming here for the gaming news when I started to hate IGN and the occasional tech article really roped me in.

EDIT: Also, 100th :p

I started watching ZP on youtube and then when he moved here, I watched for years before I, eventually, decided to stop putting it off and make an account. Was a lot of procrastination.
