What Choices Have You NOT Made In Games?

Title pretty much says it all. Lots of games these days have points where you have to make a choice about something, and I'm just curious what sort of choices have you not made? Specifically: ones that you don't ever intend to make, even just to see what it would lead to.

I'll give you a couple examples:

In Mass Effect, I have not - and will not - ever kill Wrex. He's just too much fun and, in most playthroughs, an integral part of my squad as the good ol' bullet-sponge.

In Skyrim, I have not - and will not - side with the Stormcloaks. Ulfric just comes off as too much of an arrogant, racist prick for me to ever get behind his cause. Seems like he won't be satisfied with kicking the Empire out of Skyrim, but wants ALL non-Nords gone as well.

So yeah, what decisions in games have you not made? In particular, what decisions do you never intend to go with?

I've played through the original BioShock multiple times. Not once have I ever killed a Little Sister, and I have no intention of ever doing so in any future playthroughs. I looked up the other ending(s) online, so I don't have that curiosity to worry about. I just don't want to kill them. Besides, even without not wanting to kill a bunch of little girls, the long-term benefits of letting them live outweigh the short-term benefits of killing them, and it isn't like the game is so difficult that you need to ever seriously consider short-term benefits.

In BioShock Infinite, I have a similar resolve to always spare the interracial couple at the raffle. I have altered my choice at other parts of the story, but that is one choice I'll always stick with.

In Mass Effect, I also always spare Wrex. He's never been integral to my squad, by I always enjoy seeing him in the story.

I suppose in the Mass Effect trilogy, specifically ME2, I have never and will never choose to let any of the team die in the Collector Mission.
I mean besides the fact I enjoy all the characters, each of them comes back in ME3 to some degree and to let them die in the Collector assault is to literally take away gameplay and experience from ME3. And like Yahtzee once said if the good ending and bad ending are equally canonical, then the bad ending is nonsensical.

I mean if you can choose to let...Jack or Tali die while knowing letting them live is equally plausible, required more gameplay on your part to achieve(something I thought gamers like) and leads to bonus gameplay in the sequel then letting them die is just stupid. It is counter to what gamers want in a game, i.e. MOAR game.

Also like OP said, I'll never side with the Stormcloaks. They're just racists and they really only like you if you're Nord. So fuck 'em!

I never gave Cass to the Mafia to break her legs or whatever in Fallout New Vegas.

I'm pretty sure there were some dumb choices in Arkham City. I chose to be Batman and do Batman things.

Mostly I'm not afraid of trying new choices on playthroughs in games because I can just reset. I have caused the death of every character who can die in both Devil Survivor games now out of perverse curiosity, including successfully convincing Haru to kill herself and watching Io Nitta melt into green ooze...

Amusingly, one choice I've always avoided after a few playthroughs of the Trooper storyline in SWTOR is to shift the blame for a major defection to your main companion Aric Jorgan during a Senate hearing. I can do the most vile or dickish Dark Side choices killing hundreds, but not that one.

This is probably because he's got an explosive temper already that you've already witnessed, he looks like a demon with his fangs and eyes, his superiors have already docked his rank over this even though he is not even slightly at fault for what happened, and I like his character and I would hate to throw him under the bus anyway.

Long story short: batshit insane evil choices. I'd never chose to, for example, kill of 2 of my party members in KOTOR, following with making third one kill the fourth one by means of force persuation. I mean, I can (and will) make some Renegade choices in Mass Effect (for example, scaring the thugs away instead of persuading), but being outright murdering psychopath? No thanks.

I've always found that a pretty silly "choice". The fact that it's freaking button prompts is bad enough, but they might as well say 'Be a Racist' and 'Don't Be a Racist'.

As for a better example of a similar situation, in Half-Life 2 I always throw the can against the Combine guard instead of in the garbage bin.

There's one quest in Skyrim that I will never be able to do.

One of the optional quests requires you to sacrifice one of your followers. I'll never be able to play as a complete evil character, so this is a no-go

The first time I encountered the option (the first time I played it), it did make me pause. I wasn't used to the controls so I had gotten my ass kicked a few times even up to that point, and I also believed (as you would if you didn't know better) that it would make it easier throughout if you did harvest them. I took the moral high ground in the end and decided not to and I'm freaking glad for it. Can't see myself ever going down the route of harvesting them either since I got the sunshine & rainbows ending for saving them all. It is a bit silly that the long term benefits (which aren't even really that long) do outweigh harvesting them though - gives no valid reason for actually harvesting them, unless you just wanna destory little girls.

EDIT:

I had been playing a good-two-shoes up until that quest, and it sat in my quest log for the longest time. I eventually hired some random follower from a bar (one I thought the least deserving to keep doing what he was doing) and made my character more... neutral. Mostly cause the armour you get from that quest is fantastic in terms of stats and looks :p

Siding with the rebellious, anarchic, idealistic or scummy side.

For instance in Fallout NV siding with Caesar or the Followers, or in Bloodlines siding with the Anarchs.

I have not, nor will I ever, play the ending to Mass Effect 3. Thanks to that, the ME series as a whole remains one of my favorites of all time. Sometimes it pays to have a story spoiled.

Beyond that, I'm open to almost anything, though I tend toward the friendly/flirty/nice playthroughs, and generally avoid the multitude of psychopathic prick options games offer in place of being evil, unless you've got a good reason/plot device to support it.

Edit: Oh, yeah, I also hate both the Stormcloaks and Imperials from Skyrim equally, so I've never bothered to do more than the absolute minimum for them. Too bad there was no neutral option.

I used to be the sort of guy who had to read every possible line of dialogue, OCD style, but in the intervening years I've mellowed out. I no longer need to see everything, so long as what I get is satisfactory.

In most games, I try to be exemplary. I will strive to help everyone, even if they don't really deserve it. The only exceptions are games like Skyrim and Fallout where I am quite happy to operate as a thief or assassin (But not a bandit.). Even when I do take that route, I set out to complete jobs I am given properly, and don't con or screw over characters. I just do the job then take their stuff.

It seems with just about every Jedi like story theres always that thing about forsaking love and relationships because it can breed jealousy and lead them down the darkside. Ive always felt thats a crock of horse manure. The jedi order really needs to teach that love will save them and temper them more toward the light because love gives you something good in your life. What they need to teach is to guard against jealousy, mistrust, and things like that. Thats what leads to the dark side, not love.

I can never make the choice to break up a couple in love because of that jedi tenant because I just cant believe theyre right on that count

I've never been the evil bastard. I always try to save everyone that I can as efficiently as I can. I've spoiled entire game plots for myself to find out how to keep everyone alive, and I would do it again. Why? Because my enjoyment of a game is nothing compared to the nonexistant life of a fictional character that would just as quickly be brought back to life should I ever choose to restart the game.

I am being completely serious here when I say that.

I mean it.

No, really, I am.

The big one that comes to mind right now is the end of Spec Ops: The Line where you have the option to
open fire on the squad that has come to rescue you.

The ending is bleak enough as it is. I just can't do it.

Well, if you sacrifice one of the bounty hunters (or whatever they are called, the thugs you can hire for 500) it'll make some sence for a chaotic good. The problem for me is however that the reward has nothing to offer. My character is heavily focused on light armor. Atleast, I thought that the reward was a unique heavy armor. So it is basically unnescecary bloodshed if you ask me.

Spoiler tags, just in case.

Let's just sum it up like this. In Fallout NV I was the godliest of gods in one play through and in the other... well, I shot Tenpenny, blew up Megaton, and jumped off the tower in that order. I'll try to play games through every way just to see how they're different, but in games like ME that carry over decisions I'll only port my preferred play style. The games that give me a hard time are the ones that hide it's an actual decisions. Lookin at you Spec Ops >.>

Hm let's see..

Dishonored - I've never played lethally or combative or with the power ups for anything other than blink.

Mass Effect - I have never nor will I ever Kill or betray Wrex. So you can just keep scratching that itchy trigger finger of yours Ashley cuz it aint ever happening!

Mass Effect 2 - I have never changed my major choices. So I have never had Jack, or Jacob or Mordin make it out of that game alive and I'll never see them in ME3 :(
That's just how I am when it comes to those games. I don't like altering my choices or my personal narrative. If that's what happened then in my mind that's how the story goes so it will always happen.

Bioshock - I have never killed a Big Daddy. Yeah...I got clobbered a lot.... but I just couldn't do it. These guys did no crime other than look out for these little girls and it's heart breaking for me to attack them. Kill them. And then see the Little Sisters weep for the only friend they have ever had.
I aint a fucking monster and I aint doing that!
