How awesome would post-apocalyptic Tokyo be? I'm thinking all the cliches that city is famous for (neon, tuner racing and every form of perversion and weirdness known to man) rendered into dystopian, steampunk, mutated and irradiated glory.
Theres already a tonne of very well made photoshop images floating around the web focussing on this very theme. In fact, theres an entire comic book based on it now. The city itself is riddled with emergency response bunkers and even (allegedly) one of the major train lines existed for decades as a secret fallout response thoroughfare. In a game however, much'd be probably utter brown and grey shite as it'd just be a tonne of collapsing indoor tunnels. Pretty much anything you'd encounter has aready been comprehensively "done" in the Half Life series. Contemporary Japanese rootops could lend well to a game though. I guess the appeal wouldn't be an original landscape but rather that a well researched game would be a much more believable experience. Just don't go expecting "save the emperor" quests or anything because that shits outlawed.

Edit: Mutant cats would kick arse.

Im sorry but only America was paranoid enough that they pretty much brought back the witch hunts to track down suspected communist. No other country could work plus the 50's in America was a time of great prosperity which translates to the gred and corruption of the government along side some very strange views for the future aka the fallout universe. All you have do is watch the old news reels or even the governments training films for civilians in the event of nuclear war. I mean without the American setting you just cannot have Fallout.

UK would make a good setting as it would still fit with whole commentareis on Western society and its failings and what not.and the exsitance of the commonwealth in Cannada implies that the British Commonweatlh has reformed into something of a empire. But Japan would also make a good setting seeing as it has rather close ties to the USA geographicaly and politicaly. Though if it has to be in the US then New York so I can relive the awesome film escape fromm new york

I would like to see the south of France as part of the Fallout franchise setting. Just think of all those rich, well-to-do places home to the elite being wrecked and burnt to cinders. I'm thinking places like Cannes, or Monaco.

WHERE'S YOUR PRECIOUS MONEY NOW, HUH?!

...Ahem.

I would also like to see the UK, Italy (imagine venice - but with irradiated water and precious little land to keep out of it!) and Australia in a post-apocalyptic world. Special mention should also be given to Dubrovnik and parts of Spain. I'd love to see how an overdeveloped and overpopulated tourist hotspot would look after nuclear fallout.

I hate to say this because I do love Venice but in most cases most of Venice would have sunk by 2277. Right now in Venice the building are having to be constantly maintained and a lot of them actually rest on pontoons. I mean you may have little bits of it left but for the most part even a small tremor caused by a nuclear explosion could be the end of many of the beautiful buildings.

Faerun.

Beauty is in the eye of the irradiated Beholder!
Better yet, why not Cyrodiil? You could explore the half-sunken cantons of Vivec, or dive for loot in the irradiated lake which once was the Imperial City. And Aragonians would definitely get some mad rad resistance. The question is would it be Fallout 4 or The Elder Scrolls V?
that acutaly sounds amazingly good....like i would play that for HOURS, i can see the white gold tower knocked down, the imperial city crawling with ghouls, the oblivion gates being used for wasteland surviors worship, the graduall recovery of magic over science....it would be pretty sick
Yeah, but then you'd get people saying that it's just Fallout 3 with magic and cat people.

In other words, awesome.

I'd like them to go to a lesser known country, as stated in fallout cannon, some minor countries weren't hit by the bombs but with no trade or communication (and the effects of radiation) they dwindled. I'd think it would be interesting to be somewhere like that.

So what I'm saying is imagine Point Lookout, minus the hillbillys, add towns that haven't been destroyed but diminished, I'd like to think of better sign of civilization but at the same time have the different towns and cities at each others throats, trade could also be more stable but more demanding, with actual resources like metal and timber been collected.

And in-between that would be more organized bandits and gangs.

But from what I'm imaging to what they'd actually do are two different things... *sigh* I hope New Vegas satisfies my post-apocalyptic needs but with it looking exactly the same Fallout 3, warts and all, I fear it may be too familiar thus disappointing.

I would like to see France - Paris in a Fallout game.

You cant go wrong nuking the French ;-)
Careful, I got in some trouble making fun of France here once before...

That said, while a post-apocolyptic Paris setting could be cool, I would say that it should be developed as a new product/franchise by a French company (sort of like Russia developed Metro 2033).

Looking at what happened with "Shadowrun" (mentioned in my previous post), I think it would get about as far as the backround explaining what happened to other parts of Europe before the outcry and one upsmanship got started one way or another.

I think it's best to just keep Fallout to a very simple "the world is dead except for the US" with nothing signifigant out there, or else The Enclave would have made contact. There might be some tiny groups of survivors in England and a few other places, but nothing like what you see in the US.

Though to be honest, it would be nice to see an RPG/Action RPG set in Paris largely because I feel that the Catacombs under Paris are under utilized. They present a good foundation for having half a dozen or so "layers" underneath the city. What's more if your going to do a supernatural Apocolypse, something about the dead rising out of the Catacombs and the rest of France being forced to quarantine/isolate the city could work pretty well. Especially if you use ghosts and such as well as the traditional zombies and skeletons.

Being an explorer going in to loot/explore/investigate Paris after such an occurance could be cool, similar to the Artifact hunting in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. .
You basically mention everything cool that i also wanted to say at first, (except maybe scrounging around a half molten/destroyed Eiffeltower for scrap metal) but at that time i didn't type it all up because i was a bit short on time and went for the easy joke.

It was a nuclear war between China and the US. Plus, America should be isolated. We got nuked, and the whole continent is separated from the entire Old World by 3,000 miles of ocean on the Atlantic side, and I'd say about 6,000 on the other. So, what, you want to play Fallout in Mexico? Not much exciting stuff there, huh?

I agree with somewhere interesting like Tokyo or Hong Kong but if I had the pick I'd say London; I'd know my way around and therefore have a better chance of not being raped in the ass by every mutated creature under the sun

Nah, thats been covered. Metro 2033. YEah, I know, not a Fallout Game, but could really be in the same world, with just a little history editing.

Honestly, I know theres a canada thread, but Id really just love to see Ronto. Not Canada as a whole, but Ronto.

Australia.

Specifically, West Australia and my hometown Perth, because I want to see one video game at least acknolwedge the existance of the most isolated capital city in the world. Wecould have giant monster goannas, beasts that escaped the zoo, four armed kangaroos and have people ride mutated emus through the post apocalyptic waste of beer bottles, construction cranes and that really ugle convention center.

I don't think Fallout needs to leave North America the whole 50's style sci fy it draws from is American and I don't think it would work anywhere else

I would perhaps like to see China as it is mentioned by canon being involved in the nuclear war with US. Also I don't think they should make some shitty game in a random country just for the sake of it, to attract more sales or what not. Also, they only showed a small fraction of US so there is lots and lots of potential still left, no reason to move it just yet.
