Because it's not as good as the previous mw?
Not exactly.
See, MW was a pretty damn good game. It had it's flaws, but overall, it was very good. MW2 on the other hand, seemed to pick up everything the game did right, throw it straight out of the window in favor of more horrible decisions:
- The price was inflated.
- All pretenses of realism were dropped in favor of a james bond-esque logic.
- The story went from "interesting and conceivable" to "absurd and stale".
- Since one of the worse ideas of the original MW was killstreak rewards (Hint: if someone's on a kill streak they usually don't need an artificial advantage, specially not one that can wipe out the whole enemy team if they don't make it a priority, which in turn makes them easy targets), IW obviously thought, with clear backwards logic, that the best course of action was to add a million more of those! And make them even more aggressive and obnoxious! To the point that they honestly thought it was a good idea to include an actual "I win" button in the form of a tactical nuke...
- Most guns are pretty much 2-3 hit kills with stopping power, turning the game from "warfare" into "tag". Whomever sees the other person first wins because the other person doesn't really have a chance to do anything.
- The aforementioned killstreak rewards and "2-3 hit kill" guns degenerate games into campfests, since camping is by far the safest and most effective way of winning.
- Akimbo... Like... Seriously...
- Anti-game "invici-shields" that make guns borderline useless.
- Thrown knives that 1-hit kill... Because... I don't know, I'm honestly at a loss for words on this one. Whatever might have possessed them to think this was a good idea is beyond me.
- Dropping dedicated servers, which is equivalent to killing the online version of the game.
Now, if I have a big beef with Halo's 2 and 3 for adding next to nothing to the original, I'm forced to have a bigger beef with MW2, because not only does it not go anywhere, but it actually goes BACKWARDS. And it's not one detail or another either... If you removed the names and I didn't know the series I'd honestly say MW2 was the first "rougher and more inexperienced" game, and MW1 was actually the second, better, game, after the developers had learned from their past mistakes... At this point the game designer should probably feel ashamed of himself.
In short: MW2 is worse than going stale, it's going backwards... And that's why I have a problem with it.
