I'm sure we all wanted to be something grand and exciting as child. Some of us just grow out of such a phase while others have their ambitions drowned in a wave of cynicism. When I was a lad I was obsessed with prehistory, particular the Mesozoic era, and I aspired to become a palaeontologist before I realised it was digging up bones. I also wanted to be an Astronaut until one fateful day I saw that James Bond film that opens with an Astronaut being separated from his ship and floating into space, a traumatic opening to say the least.

What did you want to be?

Edit: I'm surprised that so many people wanted to be palaeontologists, although Dinosaurs are pretty awesome.

A Thundercat.

I loved that program, even had the little plastic sword and glove .... and a battle tank.

A scientist, until I realised that it wasn't just putting pretty colours in flasks to make cool stuff happen.

Well first, I wanted to grow up to be a police officer, thinking it was all driving muscle cars and gunning down gangsters. Then I hit 6 and found out Aussie cops drive around in sedans and paddy wagons, and rarely shoot people. Then I found out that Italian and German cops drive around in really fast cars on the autobahn. Then I hit 7 and someone reminded me that I wasn't German or Italian.

Then I got a book about military aircraft and wanted to be a fighter pilot for most of the rest of my development.

Rather convoluted story I know but you asked.

An engineer inventing technologies. Then my dream was forcefully crushed and my health crippled but at least people made money off it.

I was convinced that the world would end in a fiery nuclear apocalypse before I reached adulthood. Seriously, being a child in the eighties will do that to you. Threads didn't help, neither did The Day After, Damnation Alley did help a little bit.

I wanted to be a buissnessman, from there i decided I wanted to be a cop(S.W.A.T not regural police), then I wanted to be a doctor, then I wanted to sing and act as to be famous and attract the attention of a celebrity crush of mine. Now I just want to be rich. Yeah, its really random.

I wanted to become an archaeologist, too. Or just someone who dug up dinosaur bones.

And that was back in the 80's. You can imagine how apeshit fanboy I went when Jurassic Park came out.

A dog, a horse, an eagle, a teacher, a math teacher, a sports professional, a math teacher, a science teacher, a scientist, an engineer, a doctor, a psychologist, someone with a successful and fulfilling career (which is highly specific yet utterly vague).

In that order (more or less).
