Just an average as film. Funny in places but gets boring towards the end. I didnt think it was offensive at all, no more than Americans find The Simpsons offensive.

sufc why dont you try calling an irishman english and see how you get along, i dunno how hed take it but i have seen some poor sod getting the living hell kicked out off him for calling a scotsman english
Did you hear the one about the lost vikings.

Bunch of viking's land in england, no idea where they are. One says to the other's "hold up i'll go ask where we are". So off he went loudly shouting "I love the english the english are great".

Come's back five minutes later with a bloody nose "we're in scotland"

By the way, when Americans use the term "British", do you mean "English" people or "English, Irish, Scottish or Welsh" people?
That's it. I couldn't think of what the correct name was at the time of posting this. Sorry.

I watched the newest ZP and made me wonder. What do British people think about Austin Powers? Do you find it funny? Does it offend you in any way?
Do Americans seriously think that we Brits are that thin-skinned?

Believe it or not, we very rarely take ourselves seriously. I doubt there's much that would get a national outcry out of us. Even if you made a cartoon about Princess Diana going back in time to crash her car into Winston Churchill and assault Queen Elizabeth with a burning Union Jack.

In fact, I think South Park already did that.
I was just wondering. Sorry if I offended you.

nah austin powers is not offensive in any way to me. Its just playing on steriotypes other people have on the British which are not true, so in a way it is only mocking the ignorance of other nationalities.

British people probably tink about what everyone thinks about: men think about sex and how to get it, women think about how to use sex to get men to do stuff for them.
That's a shallow and cynical perception of society.

At least you didn't throw a fit. Still, to be offended by a comedy that is chock full of stereotypes is sort of missing the point.

Nope. It's never even crossed my mind when I watched them that it could be considered offensive. The stereotypes in it are so ridiculous that to be offended by them would mean being highly sensitive.

Also, weren't the films more digs at the 60's spy films instead of 'British' people?

I'm not British.............I'm ENGLISH. There are FOUR countries in the UK not one. Sorry if that's a little too confusing for some.

Austin Powers = not offensive in the slightest. Few moments where he's onto some genuine English stereotypes, but other moments (like the bad teeth) are just common myth.
