Ummmm... spiders so big they have health bars, and pretty much everything EXCEPT the koalas and the rugby players will kill you in under a minute. The koalas and rugby players might take 45s to kill you.

Beyond that, it's too damn hot for my taste, but it's the country that gave the world Nicole Kidman and the Minogue girls, so I'm not going to judge it too harshly. Except for the whole 'nanny state internet' bullshit; that has to go.

Last I checked, the Aussies have the WORST country in the world.

Miles of nothing in a horribly dangerous place filled to the sky with creatures that can kill you. THE world's largest population of extremely poisonous creatures that generally will kill you instantly just by touching your pinky, and babies are devoured daily by Dingo's.

The beachs are nice, though. But it's mainly the worst place on the planet to live. At least that's what I've heard.

I am australian and there seems to be a LOT of misconceptions, just a few months ago it was freezing. sydney is bassically just a smaller new york. I rarely see snakes or even spiders. last time I saw a kangeroo was years ago. and we have not had a barbecue in months

As an Australian: too hot in summer, government sucks, people are fine, landscape is good, too many fat people, the odd insect that gets into your house every now and again can be dealt with with bug spray, all the places worth living in are far away from all the nasty stuff.

New Yorker here. I'd say that it's a country that's full of everything that wants you dead, everyone drinks Fosters, speaks with a funny accent, and was a giant prison. Also, oddly enough for a country that a lot of people associate with death and killing things, you're very strict about violence in video games for some odd reason.

Also, Yahtzee Croshaw.

I have nothing against Australia. Seems like a pretty nifty place.

Hi, any potential Australian readers!

Also, you are a militarized nation with an extremely skilled army that at the same time is because the entire nation is a "Commonwealth" or nation that is run by the government which is "allowed" by the military.

Military governor.
uh... whatnow?

Seriously... whuh?

I don't know whether to be amused or disturbed... so I'll settle for amurbed for the time being.

Edit:

5. A place that had a war that no ONE knows about save from that movie "Australia".
Actually, I'm pretty sure a lot of people know about World War 2. It was in the papers and everything.
Not what I'm talking about.

And you have a military government called a Commonwealth, just like we're Capitalists you are definitely a Commonwealth, denying that is literally denying thousands of history books.

A military government? BWAH8AHAHAHA...

I have no idea what the hell you're on about... but seeing as it appears you don't either, I guess that's fair.

Where the hell are you getting these messed up definitions from?

Here are some words you might want to look, as they apply to the Australian political and governmental systems:

Constitutional Monarchy
Federation
Parliamentary System
Representative Democracy
Modern Social Welfare State

I think it's a beautiful place, with nice laid back folk, great beer, and animals that scare the shit out of me. Especially Chironex fleckeri, Irukanji, Funnel webs, and Jack Jumpers. Salt Water Crocs, sharks, and the many, many snakes I can handle, its these small, deadly creatures I don't like thinking about!

Our country's thoughts or ours? Don't know the thoughts of the entire USA, but when I think of Australia, I think of generally good people, a fairly rugged terrain and murderous fucking fauna.

In my experience, Australia is regarded pretty highly in the US. From what I can tell though, the Australian government is a paternalistic clusterfuck.

Australia? I think the U.S.A. pretty much likes it. Paul Hogan movies, Fosters, outdoor grilling, variety of environments, the adoreable Koala? The Sydney Opera House? The helpful Eucalyptus? The Iconic kangaroo? Lots of nice things to fill our adoration of things exotic.

Sure there's down sides. The cost of videogames over there, I hear, is a bummer, IMO.
