Oh yes and Demon's Souls. He was too lazy to even try and get past the first couple of levels. Granted that 'review' was more comedic because he basically said that the reason he didn't like it was because he was too shit to actually play it.

I agree with most of he says, He probably enjoys a lot more of his video games then you would assume, he made his Niche in humerous satire on poor parts of games.

Many things. He has an unbelievably short attention span and can't appreciate game complexity or depth.

Translation: He didn't enjoy some games I liked.

OT: I disagree with him on Smash Brothers, it has huge amounts of end game depth that he ignored whilst writing it off as a button masher. The SSBB esports scene was pretty big, and watching skilled players compete is something far beyond the might of a simple button masher.

Darksiders is another point of contention. Maybe it's because I'm more interested in the world itself than the story, but for me Darksiders 2 was jaw droppingly good. The world design, and it's scope, were something to be awed. Same goes for Dishonoured. And Warhammer. I'm pretty much fine with passable story so long as the actual setting is good, and Yahtzee seems to be completely the other way around.

I also massively disagree with his praise for Half Life 2, which I found to be an incredibly unambitious, overrated game.

I think any time he steps outside the genres he likes his reviews have issues. He gets so distracted by the button mashing aspect of fighting games for example, but he never addresses how a fighting game stands up to other fighting games. It ends up being more of a review of the genre than a review of the game.

His hatred for Demon's Souls and Dark Souls. To be honest, I feel as though he barely gave the former a chance and then wrote of the latter due to his experience with it's predecessor. Then again, I feel that way with most of my friends, the ones who barely gave the games a shot, that is.

Oh, and I think the new cover based short regenerating health bar is a huge improvement to FPSs.

I don't disagree with Yahtzee on anything as he is only stating his opinion. If I find I don't share the same opinion about one of his chosen topics I don't jump to the immediate conclusion he is wrong, just that we don't see things the same way. I will say however that even when I don't share his opinion on a subject he has yet to fail to make me laugh my ass off. Which is the reason I'm a fan, not because I'm looking for game advice.

That's perfectly fine man. However, just because people agree with a lot of his points, doesn't make them a cynics. And if they are cynics, I doubt they became that way because of Yahtzee. Also, I find it harsh to say someones opinions as "wrong" without backing it up. So share with us what you strongly disagree with.
Well, I wouldn't say 'strongly' disagree. I just think that he judges most of the games he talks about too harshly. That doesn't mean he doesn't make good points as well though. Even in the harshest, most cynical lay various degrees of truth.

My point is, that Yahtzee's video's need to be taken with not one, but several grains of salt. As the whole point of them is to be overly cynical and harsh towards the games.

Well a lot of the games he didn't really like, such as Valkyria Chronicles and Ni No Kuni, I did like. In fact he seems to write off a lot of JRPG's.

One thing we will agree on though is that Shadow of the Colossus was damn good. Damn damn good good damn good damn damn.

...

good.

Well, I like JRPGs, so that's one thing. I also enjoy RTS games. I'm not a huge horror fan.

I don't neccesarily agree or disagree with his opinion...we just have different tastes.

Yahtzee is not a reviewer. He's a comedian.
Comedians can be commentators. And as Yahtzee offers non-comedy commentary as well, I would say that he has very real stances that could very well be relevant here. Odten, his jokes are trumped up versions of his own opinions. But that still means they're based on real opinions.

Big like: real time strategy games can't compete with the snake riding experience in Shadow of the Colossus. To me that's just crap. There is still a lot of room for improvement and it goes against my motto, "anything is possible with art".
Is that actually what he claimed, though? Below is a quote from the Extra Punctuation article "On RTS Games" [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/columns/extra-punctuation/7938-On-RTS-Games], where he states rather plainly not that there's anything wrong with the RTS genre, but that they're just not to his taste:

Yahtzee said:
I'm not saying [Starcraft 2]'s bad or an unnecessary sequel, although it could well be both of those things. I'm saying my opinion on StarCraft 2, or indeed any real time strategy game, is about as much use as Roger Ebert's opinion on gaming as a whole. Or Ug the caveman's opinion on the diesel engine. I don't play them. I've never been able to get into them. They're just not my cup of tea. Okay?
Anyway, I don't often disagree with Yahtzee, because our taste in games happens to be very similar. I never cared much for most real-time strategy games either, along with the majority of fighters or JRPGs. As a general rule, I'll agree with just about any criticism he makes, but those criticisms will always mean less to me than they do to him, and thus if Yahtzee dislikes or is indifferent toward a game, I will never dislike or be bored by it as much as him (consequently, if he does outright like a game, I know it's a game I should play). I agree with just about every flaw he's found in the Pokemon, Halo, or Super Smash Bros. games, but the enjoyable aspects of those games are able to override the flaws to me, and therefore I still like them, so Yahtzee's dislike doesn't bother me (the same goes for his views on multiplayer). [sub]Although I do agree with the OP's example of his claim that all fighting games can be reliably mastered simply by mindless button-mashing.[/sub]

The only game which I outright disagree with him about is Dark Souls. I don't own it yet, and only played an hour or two at a friend's house, but the impressions that I got during that time combined with the sentiments the people on these forums have expressed about it leave me with little doubt that I'll love it once I finally do buy it. I only played up until I defeated the Taurus Demon, which is coincidentally the point at which Yahtzee seemingly stopped playing, judging by his article about it [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/columns/extra-punctuation/9361-Death-Mechanics-and-Dark-Souls.2]. He called the experience irritating (and later uncomfortable, once the repeated cycle of death "broke" him), but I was having a blast with the fantastic combat and dark fantasy aesthetic, and readily welcomed my acceptance of the "punishing-but-fair" way the game worked. He said it was lacking in flow, but I found its flow to be unique and thrilling. I wholeheartedly agree that being unable to pause the game is BS (online players or no), but otherwise Dark Souls is me and Yahtzee's sole major diverging point.

The only thing I generally disagree with is when he criticises the story in a game where the story isn't the prime focus, like CoD. The story in CoD is always utter balls, but it's really just there to drive the gameplay; it's like going to see a Jason Statham film and complaining that there isn't enough character development.

I know he's more a comedian than a critic, I just feel like going after the story in games like that is an easy target. You shouldn't mark the speds same as the normals.

All this attacking on Nintendo. I just love Nintendo. I don't understand the attacks. Same with RPGs. Play Final Fantasy. Play Fire Emblem. Play Fallout. Play Riviera: The Promised Land. Can you honestly tell me they're all exactly the same? I was also surprised to hear him say that Sonic Colors was actually good (and avoided reviewing it; he mentioned it in his Sonic Generations review). No, it wasn't! That game was just linear, claustrophobic nonsense that played itself! Even weirder was to hear praise for BioShock Infinite. Goodness, I thought for sure he'd maul it relentlessly, considering... well, there really isn't much to salvage from this mediocre title, after all.

Mirror's Edge. I thought it was great, even though everything he said was wrong with it, was in fact, wrong with it.

He hated it with a passion, and I love it

I like RTS games. He hates them.
There are also a few games I really liked that he slated.
I also believe that Warrior Within was the best Prince of Persia.
