I think that the game makes you sit back and think about the strategy part instead of just running in a place and lighting it up. In the game you control the troops and tell them where to go and what to do. It brings back memories of command and conquer.

I think Endwar doesn't have that variety of an RTS game. However the voice control is best voice control I have seen (or said). I don't think the game itself is good but its a revolutionary stepping stone for this kinda thing

Way to contribute absolutely nothing to the topic. Also, what is wrong with Tom Clancy games? The settings and stories are all awesome and its just when the devs are a bunch of idiots that a couple of the games have turned out bad. (ie rainbow 6 lockdown)

On topic, I thought End War was meh. It wasn't really bad but I am not a fan of the whole voice command thingy.

Where the actual gameplay didn't do much for me and I did find it kinda boring and felt like the game was more playing itself than I was playing it. The voice control was a technical feat and I hope they can employ it into different game(s).

What he said. I'd love to see the voice controls in other games also, as long as they aren't in any Jet fighting games or Star fox

The voice control is the best I've ever seen, but its a console RTS. The RTS wasn't meant to be on the console, however for a console RTS it's very good. If you real want to play an RTS you should be playing warcraft3 or starcraft or one of the many other good RTS's on the computer.

the only reason you should play this game is if you need to play an RTS but you either A. don't have a computer(which the OP obviously does), or B. your computer is so bad it cant run games from 5+ years ago.

It is an interesting concept but the strategy is a bit lacking to be honest. The rock-paper-scissors style of gameplay is a bit bland for my tastes. I know that light infantry deal poorly with tanks but that doesn't mean they can't hold their own for awhile (Look at the last stand of British 1st Airborne in Arnhem during WWII for example).

Still, the game does resolve my major gripe with console RTS games, namely the controls.

While I actually love the core gameplay, the Theater of War online mode is really bugged and has lost Ubisoft alot of fans. People are tired of their units getting bumped back to recruit rank because the other person quits. People hate the 3 minute rule because alot of people will just throw everything at you and if it doesnt work, they just quit out before the 3 minute mark with no reprecussions to them. People don't like the Primary Frontline rule that dictates where fronts open up. People are tired of playing on the same 4 maps back and forth, the Russia/Europe front is hardly ever open.

All of that is related to the online play. That being said, the single-player is pretty fun but the actual amount of immersion into a backstory is kind of lacking. The most interesting thing are the little news snippets in between battles.

Also, I think alot of people got fed up with Ubisoft's lack of communication with it's playerbase.

Disclaimer: I do like the game, but I think it could be alot better.

Voice control was good, everything else was bullshit, especially the lack of a free roam camera, I don't want to be behind my damn units all the time thanks.

i like the game but the units lack of variety is a thumbs down because it would be nice if each battlion had a unique unit to spice up online multiplayer. and the mission selection is a pain because you can only select certain places so i will be constantly defending portugal from the americans. however the voice controls are rather good exept for when your on it in the middle of the night and so you become more quiet and because of that the game doesnt follow your orders.
i will be looking forward to a second game (if they make one that is)

(sorry for the big block of writing and bad punctuation but i cant be bothered to sort them out)

Voice control has been in Tom C's games for ages, R6V2 has it, I think GRAW2 had it as well.

Either way I like it, its better than WiC, is more fluid, and I just prefer it.

Have you played a Tom Clancy game pre-ubisoft?

I like EndWar, but I like Halo Wars more. There's nothing like actually controlling your units with a gamepad. EndWar is, as the devs said, more like a strategy game than an RTS as it doesn't have any micromanagement to speak of. All your effort is focused into your strategies, which can then be easily executed in seconds via voice command. So don't get me wrong, I think it's a great game, but I just like the feel of Halo Wars more. Maybe that's because it's more conventional than EndWar, but less conventional than a game like Starcraft II.

I really enjoyed it i still don't understand the bad things people are saying about it
i play it and have fun and useally end up having to think about strategy

e.g.

should i wait till the enenmy gets bases A, B, F. and only protect my base C with the Trait of electronic warfare then use it to invade all the other bases and have a frontline of battle ?

or should i just go there ,then there, then there ?

it's a tough decision !

I don't know why exactly, but i love Endwars, i play it the most out of all my games (i have just about everything for the PS3 so that does mean something) the various uses for certain units, the fact that someone can't spam, say Gunships and win.

There is nothing more satisfying then figuring out an enemy and then exploiting weaknesses etc.

Even though i rarely use voice command, you have to use an american accent to get what you want, and i don't like having to change the tone of my voice to use commands.

But most of all its well rounded and not an idiots game.

Actually, from what I have played of EndWar, that's almost exactly what it amounts to. Just send in whatever units beat the ones that the enemy has, kill them, rinse and repeat.

Very simple game.

WiC follows the same principle just with more units. Heavy copters beat tanks, tanks beat AA which beat Heavy copters. Just like in EndWar, the infantry is useful to a degree but not a major player. (Although in EndWar, the infantry is actually worth it.)
