What do you guys think about teen pregnancy?

I hope it doesn't happen to me. Mainly, because I'm a guy, so explaining that my giant belly wasn't the byproduct of my huge obsession with cereal and cheeseburgers would be kind of awkward. Also, it's impossible.

But seriously, what is there really to say? With today's society being built as it is, a teenage girl shouldn't get pregnant. It's not that everyone must get a college degree, but at least be able to properly provide sustenance, which entails having a steady source of income and a lot of maturity. Even with support from one's family, it boils down to whether those teenage parents have the set of tools necessary to keep that baby healthy and happy and raise him/her to be a balanced and structured individual.

However, to me, having sex at those ages is fine (ha!), but should only even be considered if there's protection available.

It's definitely bad. No need to have a kid at that age.

As my friend would say "Abortion is the most effective method of birth control."

Like some people said, it's always going to happen. We cant't prevent it, at least not completely.

In the old times, it was common for women to get pregnant during teen years. Sometimes the girls were just 13 years old; it was a norm back then. But then again, they were probably married...

Also, people weren't as dumb as they are now. The main goal of sex was reproduction, not fun.

By the way, sorry for my English, it's not my native language.

at my high school there was a girl that was impregnated in a graveyard and went around saying stuff like 'Look what i did and look a baby im so popular'

SHE EVEN HAD PHOTOS OF THE GRAVEYARD WHEN SHE WAS BEING FUCKED

and the worst thing the girls became attached and thought she was the coolest and awesome girl at that school. When she had the baby thou she left school and lived with some homeless guy.

I asked her 'why did u have a baby?' her response was 'so i would be popular'. 'I said that isn't a very good reason to have a baby, how long have you known this guy?' she responded with 'i cant remember his name actually but i hope he was cute i don't want a retard baby like you.'

and thats when i wanted to do this

My opinion, some guys (and girls) need to learn to use a fucking rubber. It infuriates me how 13 year old girls get pregnant with the bullshit "pullout before comming" excuse. IT DOESN'T WORK.

What infuriates me more are 16 year olds doing it with anyone, get preggers, have abortion then do it again. seriously, that's just fucked up and I'm quite certain after 20 times there's going to be some horrid damage to your body.

The argument that women are having children later, because they interfere with having a career, is even more relevant to getting an education. It essentially ruins your life and, of the 3 girls I've met who had kids during their teens, not a single one doesn't regret it. Granted, that's a limited sample size, so I don't expect that to be true for all women.
It's not. I only know one teen Mom, and she regrets nothing... Most days.

Interesting side note, I know a nineteen-year-old girl who's been pregnant no less than twenty times...

Like the girl that keeps buying glasses because she likes the clerk, I suspect she really, really likes the cute doctor that works at the clinic...

I find it upsetting.

The odds of the man and woman staying together in a healthy long-term relationship for proper child development is almost zero. The baby is statistically going to be a burden on our societal system along with the new teen parents who will probably not have an opportunity to obtain a proper career. The added stresses placed on the families who support the teen mothers can tear them apart.

Like anything in this world, there are exceptions where the teen pregnancy could be exactly what turned around the lives of these people for the better and the baby was given an environment where it could thrive. I'd imagine these cases are extremely rare though.

Personally, I'd take the unpopular stance of putting the child up for adoption or having an abortion when these clear accidents occur.

depends on the circumstance. If the girl is a whore then it is a bad idea then I think they should have to face up to there bad choices.

However I know some guys can be just as manipulative as some girls if not worse. In those cases I feel really sorry for the girl. Deception of love is the worst thing that is destroying our youth. And it is sad to see it in our world

At the risk of being a total asshole, I hate children and children from teen parents are even worse. More often then not Teens just aren't suited to be parents, they are lazy and immature and the children never learn any manners. As some one who works in restaurants Teen parents account for most of the small, loud, annoying bastards that incessantly cry.

Upon rereading my post for clarity, i realize how generalized my statements are but this has been my experience with every kid born to teen parents I've ever met.

Same as any other pregnancy. Just a bit earlier really. And as long as the teen can handle it and has made plans, as any age couple should, then I don't see why it's such a bad thing. If anything it can be beneficial seeing as you'll then be there for your child for a longer time.

Albeit if it was accidental then I do frown upon it (especially if it was forced (not rape, but sleeping around)). Teens have no need to get pregnant. School, work, social life etc, will get in the way. An unplanned baby could turn into a neglected one very quickly.

Me and a couple of friends actually had a minor argument about this earlier today. In my experience it's almost never the case that a teenage mum is worthy of the job. Most of the time they teach their kids bad habits, don't give them discipline, and probably smoke and drink heavily (often during pregnancy too). Not to over-generalise of course...

However, even if they aren't brain-dead chavs, I just don't see how you can have the life experience at that age to be a good parent. My sister is 17 and the idea of her being a mum is, well... if not horrifying at least laughable.

Fuck reading all these posts, Teen Pregnancy is pretty much a reflection of either a bad situation (like rape) or a bad choice (like being stupid and having sex eventhough your not capable of dealing with the worst case scenario) If your mom and dad (on both sides) are willing and able to take care of your child that you are obviously not mature enough to raise yourself well then FUCK AWAY folks! I need more minimum wage teens to boss around!

I have just seen a pregnant girl when I was leaving school(senior highschooler) and in class, I saw a girl looking in a handout packet dealing with medicating babies.

I usually cansider pregnant girls to be whores/sluts/idiots and the guys who impregnanted them retards/idiots/fuckheads. However if a girl in question was raped/molested then I would understand. The bad part of it is that I sometimes hear girls talk about how they want to have a pretty baby and talk about how their kid would like with Boy A or Boy B.

I would never(usually) want a person's life ruined but their are a few girls I think would be good knocked up so they can stop making my life shit.

Whatever...

I will consider them foolish. But more power to them. As long as it doesn't affect me, I could care less.

I'm usually against tenn pregnancy as i see them trying to have kids way early into their life as both stupid and not needed and yes there are ways to prevent this:

1)Birth control pills
2)condoms
3)Decent parental upbringing to ensure early pregnancy is taught as wrong.
4)Abortion.
5)Hold off the need for sex until you are old and mature enough as any smart person would do that.

If all those above fail then they are just as stupid as the next teen to get pregnant because if they are not taught right from wrong and can't hold off the need for sex then i'm sorry but they are stupid for not seeing sense.
