Ok but it must include some kind of "fuck you weapon" like a big mace to take off frustration. ^^andromeda23 said:Ok pepople. Let's make a game![]()
I'd go further than those even and say games like Mass Effect. I have a brother and two Pc's in my house. would be really nice if I could play something with him and not against him.andromeda23 said:Like realy. More game should have Co-op. How much more fun it will be to play some games in co-op. Like Dead rising or Saint's Row.
While I AM looking forward to this (if I ever get around to buying a PS3), the disgaea games are strategy games, not turn-based RPGs. There's a big difference.mitsoxfan said:Disgaea 3.Mektig said:I miss old-fashioned turn-based JRPGs.
This is exactly what I meant, but you spelled it out much more clearly. There have been a few decent ones recently, but not nearly as many as we used to get.Jumplion said:I can't believe i might say this, but I miss some of those classic J-RPGs.
All of these current RPGs, Western-RPGs to be specific, are all these open-ended games where it's a "Choose your own adventure!" book and you get to be the hero or the villian or even both. Ugnh, sometimes I just want to play a nice, epic tale of some random guy (doesn't have to be a generic angsty-teenager) and just roll along with it instead of making choices that affect the whole damn game and then I'd have to go back to that moment to see what else would happen or if I didn't like the result.
I like a good "Open world" RPG sometimes (Oblivion comes to mind) but it just feels overwhelming and a chore. I've tried to explain this feeling to other people but they all just say "It adds to replay value" and I agree with that but sometimes I don't want to go back to the begining of the damn game to see what could have been.
Ugh, nostalgia hits hard.
I like RPGs, but the problem is; I like them more then I think I like them.Mektig said:This is exactly what I meant, but you spelled it out much more clearly. oh, this. there was a time when music motivated you. it carried you though the game. i remember i was playing FF6 at one point. and i got hopelessly lost. i wandered across the world back and forth twice. in any game today, i would have gone "oh bugger this" and done something else. but the music in FF6 was enough to make it a pleasurable experience.dukeh016 said:Also, good game music. The original homeworld soundtrack anyone?
Sorry but... Wut. Dwarven is probably around the 3rd worst heavy armour in Oblivion. If you gave up at Dwarven then you seriously haven't given the game a chance. I know you've probably run through the game before, but things only start to get interesting later on.Jumplion said:I like RPGs, but the problem is; I like them more then I think I like them.Mektig said:This is exactly what I meant, but you spelled it out much more clearly. Even Turn-based is okay every now and again, as long as it doesn't get to tedious.
I like to earn money, buy a better weapon, earn more money, spend that money to upgrade the current weapon, earn some more, sell the weapon to buy and new one and so on and so forth. It makes me feel like I earned the weapon (which is why I love so many of those types of Flash Games, i just can't find them for some reason!) unlike in many of these Western-RPGs where you could easily find the weapon or armor and when you buy it, you stumble across a free pair.
I'll give you an example;
I decided to start a new file in Oblivion, for lulz mainly, and after playing for only 2 hours getting to level 6 I believe, I went into a random cave just for the hell of it. I went in there, guess what? I found the second best(?) armor in the game right there, Dwarven Armor. I even found some Dwarven weapons and arrows. What the hell? What would be the point of earning more gold now?
And maybe it's just me, but I liked it when I connected with the main character in RPGs. Now with these huge complex Character Creators in RPGs nowadays, I just don't feel like I'm connecting with the character. I don't know why, but I don't.
I need to get some classic RPGs, any suggestions, the nostalgia is starting to twist my knickers.
Sorry if you didn't see the "I decided to start a new file in Oblivion, for lulz mainly" I have played the game before. Infact I have a level 37 Imperial charcter mainly because I didn't want to go to deep in the whole ups and downs of each character species.Bowstring said:Sorry but... Wut. Fair enough, I agree with the rest of your points, but I thought I'd pick you up on something. ;]
Sorry if you're not talking to me, but I'm waiting for the PS3 version of the game.Yatrix said:Play Bioshock, dude. I picked it up after a few months (3rd time through) and I forgot how truly amazing it is.
