I prefer I guess like riflemen.
Good armor and weapons without sacrificing mobility.

I like to be sneaky, up to a point, then I love to have the power of a god, walking through blankets of arrows, pushing spells to the side as if they were insects, getting up close and personal as I rip each foes heart out.

Sneaky. Any game you will find me playing the speed/rogue class(first time through anyway).

What if I use a combo of both? Am I just a bit of a pussy/man?
No, that just makes you a pussy in denial.
Hey, I'm not in denial. If I'm a pussy, I'll admit it.

Hell, I know I'm a pussy! XD
Why am I getting turned on by this argument?
Why is my curiosity suddenly piqued?

For fantasy RPGs: "That chick who stands a long way off and kills you by looking at you funny".

Daggerfall is the best game for that.

For Fallout: "That guy who runs up to you with epic melee weapons and dissects you".

Here is my Fallout 3 character:

As you can probably tell from that... I prefer sneaky types who surprise their foes through ambush, sniping, and infiltration. Rarely do I ever actually involve myself in direct conflict. My personality is very much the same way. :)
I can also tell that you play Fallout on the PC and mod the crap out of it.

In games such as Oblivion, Fallout, etc., what type of character do you play as? All powerful tank who wails on enemies, sneaky ranged character, a mixture of the two? I personally go for the sneaky guy who picks people off without the others knowing; much more satisfying that way to me.
I stalk people. I do all the quests first and be a hero and all that. Then I systematically hunt down anyone foolish enough to walk down dark alleys or forests. Bow, backstab, summon freakin demon... it matters not I'm sending you ALL to hell.

FalloutJack presents...the Lone Wanderer...Jack.

He likes being quick on the draw, such as incinerating Mr. Burke two seconds before Sheriff Lucas can be shot.
Wait? you can do that?
Oh, it took...alot of work. Personal challenge, completely unnecessay. I stand there like a fly on the wall as he and Burke hash it out. The Sheriff turns and I see a movement from Burke. It's a silenced pistol. This is not an easy thing to do, but I did manage to critical-hit the man and incinerate him with a laser pistol before he got off a shot. Afterwhich, the sheriff was grateful.

Depends on the game, if it's multilayer I'm always the support guy. But since you said Oblivion or Fallout like where your the main character and almost always alone I still try to be the sneaky guy.

If the game will let me I'll make a sneaky character that can pick people off from range while still having a trick or two if I do get cornered.
I played an Infiltrator all the way through Mass Effect 1 & 2 and loved it.

For FO3, my favorite play-through was as a small guns nut. I used the blackhawk most of the game and a bit of stealth- so I'd go with mid-long range coward, but handy in close quarters with an automatic weapon. Hand-to-hand is for uncivilized brutes.

So Burke isn't invul before he shoots the Sherrif. I thought it was scripted? Anyone got the G.E.C.K. for this one?

I almost always opt for the thief/archer/gunman long range and speedy yet low damage character. However I play as Jess and Max in the Advance Wars games so I clearly don't go stealth every time (Jess and Max are the tanks of Advance Wars; no, really, their specialties are tanks).

For whatever reason, Burke is not only vulnerable, but the only person you can shoot in Megaton without people turning on you. I suppose this is because nobody likes him or something. I don't know the odds and ends of it. I just decided "No.", and made it so when the conversation was over, that Burke gets a face full of laser.

I usally steal everthing that isn't nailed down, hit enemies with projectiles as they close in and then finish them off with a powerful melee attack.

I play the Magical Tank. A character in the heaviest armor available who also happens to be bursting with arcane energy. Unfortunately, it isn't a sort of character I often get to play, so far I've only had enough freedom to do so in Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura, Dragon Age: Origins, and (to a certain extent) Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. Many other games have class armor restrictions or arcane spell failure chances that prevent from doing this sort of thing.

Edit: I'm not into the divine magic that D&D Clerics use. It's just not how I roll.

Alot. FWE and MMM are the two big ones, but I also run alot of other mods that add items to the game that improve my immersion, add special things that I like, and giving myself alot more hair styles to choose from. That character in hat picture actually isn't as modded as alot of people would probably think. Only the hair and the backpack in that picture can't be obtained from the original game.
MMM? I know what FWE is but I don't get the MMM acronym :( Yeah, though I figured the armour was modded too. Nicely made character though. Makes me want to play fallout 3 again, but I never get very far... it's one of those 'so close, yet so far' games for me. Maybe I should go trawling for these 'immersion boosting' items because that was really my main problem. FWE helped a lot with it but just not quite enough.
Mart's Mutant Mod, or something like that. Basically it adds variety to in-game enemy NPC's so that you are not fighting clones all the time. It does alot of other things too, but its another mod that adds alot to immersion. Oh, and the world is a much more violent place with it.
Given the name I doubt this... but does it make supermutants less 'the default enemy' and add more things like hostile wildlife/bigger raider gangs? I never liked how the mutants turned into total fodder from the threats they were in Fallout 1.
