A lot of people keep complaining about the game for various reasons. What is it you really hate about it? Before you post, think about it carefully and without fury. Now make your complaints sainly and reasonable without flame bait. Also Spoiler Warning is in place for those who haven't finished the game.

Also you may want to watch MovieBob's Game Ovethinker Episode 40 before you start making your complaints. http://gameoverthinker.blogspot.com/2010/09/episode-40-heavens-to-metroid.html

What I hate about the game personally is how late you are allowed to use the Varia suit and Samus' breakdown at the sight of Ridley and the limited exploration during the main story. Other then that I liked the game. I had fun and plan on playing it again in the near future... after I finish Blade Kitten and Dead Rising 2... and Blue Dragon: Awakened Shadows... and Final Fantasy: 4 Heroes Of Light... when I get them

[Edit] I also forgot about the lack of Nunchuk support.

The infuriating fact that you have all your equipment, but you aren't allowed to use it. I mean, if there was a contrived reason for Samus to loss it then it would be annoying, but it would still be par for the course, but the fact that you have everything, but can't use it just because the developers are dicks pisses me off.
This is a true reason to be angry but the story re-enforces the reason up to a point. Samus chooses to follow Adam's orders but you think logic and situations would trump authority.

No, the story gives a bullshit nonsensical reason. The developers were just fucking lazy.
They were lazy in the power ups chosen for the game but creative in the distribution of each power up... except the Varia suit. You gain access to it when you pretty much don't need it for the most part. In my opinion you should have got it a third of the way through the lava area instead of at the big boss of the area. It would have made a little more sense to me but Team Ninja chose a strange point for it to be available.

They ditched the original point of the games: experiencing the atmosphere yourself. There's nothing wrong with having a main character with a personality of their own, but forgoing player input and perception to fully flesh-out a character is sheer madness, and what I hate about so many JRPGs. What is lost here that I loved so much in Metroid Prime, and Bioshock, And Half-Life, is the compromise between a full character and the ability to make choices for them. Inserting yourself into the grey areas of your avatar (what you do with a little sister, deciding whether or not to waste the mechanic's beer) gives a sense of immersion that Metroid: Other M lacks, and suffers heavily for it.

Halo hasn't been milked yet. Halo Reach was awesome.

It's going to get the crap milked out of it now that Bungie is done with the franchise though. Microsoft wants to have a Halo game out every 1-2 years, not cool.
Come on.. they even made this shitty Anime... Halo got Milked out badly... Face the Fact.. they did that when the brought out that RTS (for Console) i dont have that much against RTS on a console.. but atleast make a system that works.. and a Storyline worth playing.. They should of made a End at halo 2 and then just Face the other way and come up with something new..

Team Ninja are the last people who should be involved with the Metroid series.
That's a grey area to me. I loved the way the game played and want to see another Metroid play like this but I would like the start with nothing and build yourself up formula the originals had and more exploration.

All good franchises get milked. Look at Star Wars! Also if Halo Reach is the result of milking then I'm guessing the cow had troubles producing milk properly until now.

Team Ninja didn't have anything to do with character development. They just did the rendering and game play.

Manily, That the story makes no sense at all. Samus gets the suit at 14-15, then joins this Adam guy's squad when she's like 18-19 then leaves and becomes a bounty hunter. The NES-SNES series is suppose to to last at least 10 years, ending with super metroid. This series story-wise doesn't count the Primes. So, when she meets Adam again, she gets all weepy eyed and does the co-dependent dear diary thing. >.> Coupled with the fact that you're a bounty hunter, you don't have to listen to him at all, I mean they did have to limit you in the beginning some way but that was a stupid way to do it. And what was with the ridley thing? She's killed him 3 times and once as super robo-ridley, that made absolutely no sense.

Ok yes the story does have a lot of moments of WTF? but the choice of characterisation for her wasn't all bad... but it wasn't all good. Also I'm not sure about other people but I've heard people say this would have made a good prequel after a few changes. I think it would have too but mistakes have been made and you can skip the cutscenes if the story bothers you.

Right, I'm not one of the people to go, "Oh, they made her girly and I hate that." Though may have taken it a bit far. I just thought it being odd concerning the time and situation. I like that they humanized her a bit but through her experiences she shouldn't totally collapse and have to have people pull her away for ridley or be that attached to the guy, she wasn't even that sad when he died. The gameplay was alright, I mean it is a Wii game so it's to be expected that they weren't fantastic. I think you're reviewer wrong on that Ninja Gaiden controlled like crap but this wasn't bad as I though it'd be except the missiles thing as every time you had to find your target. The game itself was alright, maybe not worth what I paid for it but some games aren't.

I did, and I stick by what I said. fleshing her out is a good thing, giving her personality and the like. But at the same time, it's a little like giving link a voice and character. Samus stops being the character we imagined her to be, and while it's nice to have something concrete for her, i can't help but feel that my childhood idol has been taken from me and replaced by this stranger that I don't realize. Also, her emotional breakdown during the fight with riddley just killed me.

I did. Metroid isn't supposed to be an action game. It's an exploration game first. that was established in metroid 1 on the NES. This game was too action heavy. Also, samus' suit was built by the chozo for her specifically, it's adaptive and that's why she easily manipulated other technology. Making her into an action series character is a huge departure from the game's roots, and not a good one.

Finally, it's a storyline wtf. If you HAVE all these upgrades on your suit already, why the hell do I have to wait for authorization. If I get into a fire area (for example) and I have the fire suit, I'm going to put it on. i'm not going to hum and haw for some jackass back at headquarters to tell me 'okay, now that you've gone halfway through the level NOW you can activate the anti-fire suit'. It makes no sense.

Team Ninja are the last people who should be involved with the Metroid series.

The whole character thing didn't bother me in the least. She had been 2-dimensional at best before that, so I actually welcomed adding a bit of depth to her character, though I agree that some of her reactions seemed a bit out of place compared to her previous actions in the game. Personally I would have kept the changes but had them manifest in a different way (i.e. her fear of Ridley comes out as more of a PTSD thing when she's outside of battle instead of paralyzing fear when she faces him).

My huge problem was the whole power up thing. I know this has been a problem for a lot of people and my dissatisfaction comes from the same area, really. I didn't really mind Samus taking orders. Chronologically this happens before a lot of the games, so I could see her unwillingness being a little less at this point, but Samus is also supposed to be a very capable and independent person (considering that she has been through several missions alone and has done just fine), who should have the good sense to turn on the Varia Suit if she's getting cooked alive, regardless of whether her superior officer gives her permission or not. Had they gone the Fusion route and had the superior officer be a computer that somehow has control of her suit (which would come with it's own complications, but let's assume that it's possible) it would make a bit more sense, because it could have determined that she was capable enough to do without it for a while or maybe it's sensors were messed up and were showing there was no heat and a computer can't be reasoned with, but the route that they went was just full of holes that a typical Metroid series, while being a bit unbelievable, would still have come out as more sensible and that's saying something.

The controls.

D-pad movement died in 3D games for a reason!

That said, first person isn't that bad once you learn that you can use the dodge move with it.

Just swipe the reticule to the edge of the screen RIGHT before the attack hit. Or flail wildly in advance. Or shake the Wiimote.

The absolute murder of Samus' character is what annoys me the most, but there is so much to hate about Other M. The terrible writing, the unoriginal (read: copypasted) plot, the first person detective sections...

And sorry MovieBob, I see where you're coming from, but no.
