A fun, epic space opera told via a somewhat arcady FPS with some great vehicle sections and one of gamings most well timed soundtracks. Despite being a little shallow, Halo is an enjoyable experience, just ignore the hype/hate and you'll have a better time since people will be telling you its either better than an god or complete crap.

Multiplayer.
And to that I say: TF2>halo1/2/3
I don't think it's fair to compare Team Fortress 2 to Halo like that, as the only thing they have in common is that they're first-person shooters with heavy emphasis on multiplayer. I play TF2 when I want to work together as a team to accomplish an objective, and I play Halo when I want to shoot some guys.

Multiplayer. Not just xbox live. Playing with a bunch of people in person is even better.

I did this a lot overseas, and we had a blast. Any game played with a bunch of people is more fun, but the Halo learning curve isn't that steep. New people who didn't play FPS's much could be decent at HALO after a few days, so it wasn't hard to find new people.

I like the campaign too. I didn't think it was as good as GoW2's campaign, but it's still good. And the fact that you can play with up to 16 is very interesting. I've never tried it out with more than 2, but I definetly want to.

Why does Half-life get high score when the whole thing has been before? Why does GTA4 get high score when the last great GTA game was Vice City. It went down hill from there.

Why does MGS4 get a high score when the game's cut scenes are longer than a movie?

I hate every single fucking bastard here who bashes Halo. I hate every single one of you, because all of you think the same damn way. I don't care if you don't like the game, but some of the idiotic things you all say about the game is disgusting and I think all of you should be ashamed to bash a game.

Like some have said, I think some of you are hateful towards the game because of it's popularity.

One thing that makes Halo stand out is the vehicles. I can make a map with over 10 different types of vehicles. I can not think of another FPS that does the same. I can't think of another FPS that has a Spartan Laser that can destroy a vehicle with a boom.

The maps. Some of the maps of Halo are awesome. I don't know any other game that has Blood Gulch or even a map like Sandtrap

"A team to accomplish an objective"

That is bullshit because you do need a team effort to score but also to keep the other team from scoring.

Yes I am a Halo fan and I am proud of it. I love the story and I love everything about it.

If you want a serious review, go watch Zero Punctuation's.
As much as I admire Yahtzee as an entertainer, he's no Jon Stewart. I don't see his criticism transcending the comedy, even when I do sometimes agree with it.

So no, I don't take ZP's review too seriously. (But it's funny as hell, and I thought it was a blast.)

A well made, if dated shooter, with a good amount of people playing its fairly good multiplayer, and a mediocre story.

It was fun to play online, easy to learn the maps, and relied entirely on twitch reflexes.

Serious, as in not "perfect, amazing, a true masterpiece".

Check out one of the other 500 threads about Halo hate.
This is all I have to say... If you don't like the Halo series, write a REVEIW, in the REVIEW section. Then everyone can comment on your own thought without hitting you with cries of "repeat thread", because your reveiw will be unique somehow.

I don't understand the Halo hate. It's just like the Gears hate. None of it is truly anything substantial, it's always just "I don't like this". Ok, that's great. But do we really need a thread where you try to amass all haters?

I see what you do not... AWESOMENESS!

Yes I go to LANs and play nothing but Halo go on sue me! It's just really good from my point of view because I'm really creative in using forge (mingame maps), theatre (machinima) and matchmaking (ownage).

It's just you guys are not those kind of gamers thats all!

I only played Halo 1 and 3 so I cant really comment on 2.

I played through 1 co-op with a friend and thought it was a decent game. The story had me completely confused most of the time. I also couldnt figure out why smashing somebody with the butt of my gun was more powerful than shooting them with it. I also seem to remember the level variety was rather lacking. Half the game was spent crawling through very similar hallways and rooms. Only to be broken up by a brief outside part to let you know you were in a slightly different area. But it was overall a good (not great) game.

With 3 I was still totally lost when it came to the story. I figured that was mostly due to my lack of playing 2. The level design seemed a little better. The weapons of the games were the most disappointing part of the series to me. They came up with some pretty unique and interesting guns (mostly the alien weapons). And made them near useless due to them hitting like seven year old girls with down pillows. Why use all your battle rifle ammo on that brute when you can just punch him twice? Same problem with multiplayer. I guess it makes combat a different experience. But it got old very quickly and couldnt hold my attention the way TF2 or COD4 could.
