What do you see in halo?

Well after looking at file shares i see that almost every player enjoys taking a picture with the half naked man. This has nothing to do with the story so no that is not the hidden gem.

Best opinion so far. There is a lot of "It's cool to hate Halo" going around, mostly related to Xbox Live or just a general hate of science fiction or FPS or the Xbox itself, but Halo has good controls, solid gameplay, an epic, unique storyline and fairly good graphics. I like it and this thread is (obviously) going to start A halo flaming war. The gameplay and story in Halo(s) were awesome and I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THOSE GAMES!!! (HA!)
At a time Halo 3 was one of my favourite games, and my favourite online multiplayer.
Now I honestly wouldn't even dare compare it to Gears of War 2 or Call of Duty 4 (I say 4 because I haven't bought WaW), and honestly think that the only thing Halo multiplayer is good for is getting pissed with your mates and messing about on user made maps with no gravity and such.
Oh, and the Vidmaster: Annual achievement, I won't say a bad word about that.

Halo isn't anything super specail. It was just one of the first "good" console shooters, that got way too much hype is all. I still play it for the multiplayer though, which I find to be insanely fun.
I see color, multiplayer that I can enjoy with non-Xbox/Internet owning buddies, and the Spartan Laser. Did I mention color? You know, that thing that all the grim and gritty shooters that permeate existence lack?
I could go on for longer about all the things that make me think Halo trumps the competition (yes, even CoD4, people), but I really don't feel like it.

also they actually built in a theatre mode and mapmaking... there are few half decent fps's with mapmaking, and none with theatre.
Note: what do people see in GoW is what im more interested in. I played a few levels, got bored and havent touched it since.
There seems to be a lot of people who like 1 but hated 2/3. I hated 2. But 3? 3 was awesome. The only thing I found wrong with it was the campaign was waaaay too short. Actually no, I didn't hate 2 either. Nvm.
