so i know everyone here is peeing their pants with anticipation for the game and we all mention it in every thread, me included. weirdly enough no one has actually started a thread discussing the game. so here i am starting one. what do you think about it? i personally am excited. although i wish there were going to be some new mechanics like the ones introduced between the original and melee. also im nervous that as no one plays with items now, and no one will play with them in brawl zero suit samus will be relagated to some random corner, inaccesable for us samus players. also id like to ask, who will be the char that you play as the first time u play the game? and who in general are you looking forward to and why? personally im excited for a bunch of the new chars, zero suit samus, metaknight, pokemon trainer and sonic of course. but the first char i play will be either sonic or pokemon trainer. so what do you guys think? what kinds of things are you thinking about the game?

thats not really a reason not to be excited tho. just cause something is delayed a lot, when there is about a month left till the release date i think we can still get excited.

ANY game where Snake, Sonic, Samus and Jigglypuff can battle each other to the death HAS to be awesome, simple as that.

Well, not a single game is coming out this year that will sell more copies, that I can think of (Wii Fit surely will, but I'm not counting it as a 'game'.) Can anyone think of any game (that we know for sure is coming out this year, any platform) that might out perform this game, sales-wise? As of right now, I can't think of any, but I may be wrong...

GTA 4 is the strongest rival for SSBB in terms of sales.

Ooooohhh, GTA4, that's riiiiiiiiight. This is gonna be close after all! :) Hasn't GTA lost some of its steam though? I sure as hell wanna play part 4, but is it still gonna set the world on fire, Halo 3-style?

It's a good, fun game that can entertain you and your friends for hours. But for the love of GOD. PLEASE. STOP. ADDING. NEW. CHARACTERS. The money that you spend rifling through the Famicom archives for a popular game would be better spent on level design and gameplay ideas.

Looks great, my most looked-forward-to game release of the year thus far. I like that they included individualized story modes for characters, although it looks like a good number of them wind up chasing the Halberd for it. Less of a graphics update than Melee was over the 1st one, but really how much further can you go?

Also, while this may seem selfish, no more Sheik = a happy me. Like half the Melee players I've met use Sheik and claim no one is better. Here's hoping they balance all the Final Smashes and make Washdashing easier on the thumbs.

And I couldn't be happier about her being in, either. She was my favorite character, and I was highly saddened to hear she wasn't gonna be included, luckily they added her in, and I'm happy as a lark.
Now, because I more or less HAVE to become a pro with Snake (he's awesome. That's reason enough.), that'll make me good at using two characters, if nothing else. Sweet!

That said, WhiteFangofWar, you say HALF the Melee players you met use Sheik? I was always completely alone in using her, most people used Fox, Mario or Ganondorf, with the occassional Samus or Captain Falcon.

I'm a novice to this series - I don't own any of the previous games and I've only really played it with other people at other people's houses, but I've found it fun every time. The Wii, with a couple of exceptions, is quickly becoming the "party" or "group" console when I have friends over at my place, and this will be a nice addition.

I do have to say the third-party inclusion of characters is really what drives my excitement about the game. The Snake gameplay and trailers look hilarious.

I had SSB and SSBM and loved them, but as for SSBB . . . meh. I don't have a Wii (can't afford it, to be honest - though I could probably find a used one I could get) for one thing. SSBB just doesn't have the same appeal it did then, and I for one don't look forward to mucking about with Link or Fox by flailing about with my arms. Some games, sure, but SSB is too filled with nostalgia for me to care about any new fangled control scheme. I'd end up switching to an old GC controller (if I can. I'm not really sure) and that just feels like cheating.

And even if you don't use the gamecube controller, you don't flail around, you use button 1, button 2 and the D-pad on the wiimote. No flailing necessary.
