I have yet to find a game I like playing with the controllers, and the only games I really found all that fun there super smash and mario cart(still used the GC controllers). I would also say that 90% of the games out for it are shovel wear and that the whole motion control thing is retarded.

My point was that gaming isn't going to become more childish, just because there are more accessible 'casual' games than ever before doesn't mean that the whole industry is going to follow suit. It's sad that some developers are using the need for these accessible games top pump out brainless, simplistic drivel, but it was always going to happen like that. When I go into a film, and I see a trailer for a shitty film, I don't go "WHAT IS HAPPENING TO THE MOVIE INDUSTRY", I decide that, often, shitty films are released and I get over it. It doesn't spell the doom of an industry just because some companies are bandwagon-jumpers out to make a quick buck, this is how it's always been, from the Atari days onward.

As for the comic analogy, I wasn't stating my own personal beef with it, and I don't have a problem with complex stories, I was simply stating facts. All that comic industry crash actually happened, and I was just drawing parallels with what was happening in the games industry, ie a fanbase which was growing further away from the mainstream, and becoming more exclusive, but without any large influx of new fans to keep it going when the old 'hardcore' fans either give up or dedicate less time to their hobby.
You are annoying me a bit. I have an opinion, fucking deal with it, don't just write a whole page long speech on how I am wrong. I haven't discredited everything you have said, and that's is all you're doing to me. Show some damn courtesy. I got your point, now get mine, then shut up, and we can live in peace.
Yeah, it's called a disagreement, and a debate. You know, point and counter-point and all that stuff. It's sort of what forums were invented for. Believe me, there's no personal grudge or anything involved here. it's just a debate fr God's sake. Don't rage at me because I bothered to come up with a reasoned counter-point, or would you rather I just flamed you and insulted your mother instead?

Ehh mines serves it's purpose. Of letting me play old games on it. I think the online mode is a joke and hard to use if you want to play with with friends. The novelty of the Motion control wore off years ago. And not that there's anything wrong with more casual games but has been being released just is not really for me. ALl things Mario are still good. Except party which the cheaty-ness of the AI has destroyed the fun factor of those games..anyway.

The thing that pisses me off about the wii is how they completely missed the boat in high def gaming. In a world where color palates of modern games are dark and grey, shadowy, and gloomy. IMO a wii game in 1080 that's Brightly lit, has exciting colors, with fun and lively schemes to them would be beyond a breath of fresh air. Even though it prints money tendo really missed the boat. It's art style to it's games and just that feeling of games being FUN aren't being expressed properly on the wii. If the next Nintendo uses motion control as an option and not a selling point, and the system goes bright shiny exhuberant and high def. I think alot of us will all be reminded why we fell in love with Nintendo in days past. For me the Wii just doesn't cut it as a legit system. More of a toy.

*side note* Just to chime in on this whole GRR SHOVELWARE IT"S NOT A CORE SYSTEM CASUAL IS GAY. *sigh....Just because your older now and have matured...doesn't mean that a company like Nintendo has to grow with you. They do not dev games to cater to you, and if they would like to continue making games for a casual or younger audience (the way you used to be with every pokemon color under the rainbow) it is their sole right to do so.

My point is that the system feels half-ass lazy and i know nintendo can do better. To me it's not up to par. It's just not. It's 2010. I was more impressed with the gamecube...still am.

I only use my Wii for Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Mega Man II.
And that's all I need to keep me interested.

ill get flamed for this but i dont even care

i prefer wii shooter controls honestly
it pisses me off that there isnt a single good wii third person shooter that isnt a last gen port because the controls are so much better than dual analogue

seriously, i way prefer play modern warfare on my wii to playing modern warfare 2 on my brother's 360, it feels so much more intuitive
when i miss a target, i dont think "how innacurate is this gun?" i think i that i need to steady my aim more because it's like im aiming rather than just slightly nudging a thumbstick until the pixel's line up which is better to me

oh and all the "wii has loads of good games if you look... blah blah blah"
if you dont what good wii games there are then you're just not paying attention since there are loads and people shouldnt have to spout a massive old list every time someone questions it

also i swear that argument's only used by sony fanboys who are still self conscious about that first year when the ps3 literally had no games

but meh
i still dont see how you can hate a console

pretty much this too
i loved the cube, the wii is like weak compared... still has alright games though

but if the rumours about the 3ds ar true, i might never need a home console again

Over priced. Poorly implemented giimick. Hardly any good games that you can't get on a last gen console, or a much much much better version of on another current console.

The motion sensors require an add-on to do what was originally promised, which was 1:1 motion sensing, and not all games have implemented it.

I think every Nintendo console before Wii was a million times better. Even the relatively unpopular Gamecube.

In short, I don't compare as a console anymore after this post, but as a toy similar to the likes of Fisher Price and V-Tech.

The best game is Smash Bros Brawl, which is just Melee with extra characters.

I like it. I don't play it as much, but Forgotten Sands, Red Steel, and Mario Galaxy 2 prompted me to go back to it. Oh that and No More Heroes 2.

I avoided the Wii because of the wii-mote and nunchuck. It looked extremely gimmicky and when you turn the wii-mote sideways, it resembles the NES controller...if it had a trigger and became albino. I'm not a fan of the big franchises and it looked like the Wii would have been the weakest since I noticed early that it didn't support HD at all. Not that that's a bad thing but at the time I was all into graphical improvement...I have grown up a bit since then e.e

I have all 3 consoles, and honestly, I've used my PS3 which I got 3 months ago far more than I ever have my Wii in its entire lifetime(Had it since launch). Been playing No More Heroes 1 and 2 recently, and they're really great, but other than that and Twilight Princess, I haven't really used the console.

Which leads me to my problem with the console. There is just an extreme lack of games on it which really interests me. I've grown tired of Mario games, I managed to get the 40th star before I got bored of Super Mario Galaxy. Also never cared for Metroid Prime either, the first one on gamecube bored me. Both of those pretty much make up, what, half of the amount of good games for the Wii?

Motion controls do bug me too. Some games work well with them. However what really pisses me off, is when developers implement them into a game which really doesn't need them, and consequently it somewhat ruins the experience. The same goes for the DS and it's touch screen, too.

I've only kept it because it just isn't worth selling. Plus The Last Story and Xenoblade looks interesting.

However. If you already own the console, you might as well buy some games for it, as there are some good ones out there, not many admittedly, but there is some. Suggestions for these have pretty much already been mentioned in this thread.

Ok seriously that is your argument? A list of games that includes The Conduit, Monster Hunter Tri, Modern Warfare: REFLEX EDITION that's just tapping the surface of your huge list. You have about 12 different kinds of Resident Evil. I've never played a resident evil that I thought was ok.

The Wii is the biggest waste of time, space, money and matter in general. It is an absolute joke of a system most of the games named in this thread are multi-platform and WORK BETTER on 360 and PS3 OR they scream for a normal controller! Examples? All of the Call of Duty's on the damn thing. The Wii gives birth to games that should never even be a concept let alone actually produced - Dead Space on it was horrible, not to mention atrocities and clear attempts to simply exploit all markets like The Biggest Loser Game!!!! I shit you not this exists!
http://crunchgear.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/Biggest_Loser_Wii_Sleeve.jpg

Nintendo continue to pump out the same 3 series of games over and over again, ok I stopped enjoying your mario games when you tried to tell me Super Mario: Sunshine was a game. Why do you keep making Zelda? You're best one was OCARINA OF TIME! That was 12 years ago. 12! Yet they continue to pump them out.

Now I'm sure there are a few of you sitting there reading this thinking "Well what does he know, he probably doesn't even own a Wii and just hates it 'cos it's convenient" or something like that. Well I'll inform you I do in fact own a Wii - My friend Code (OH DON'T GET ME STARTED ON THAT) is actually on my profile, and I play it! Yes despite my hate I do indeed use it, rarely while alone - Mario Kart was the only game I've been able to tolerate, Brawl pissed me off with all the shit they've tried to add to what was actually brilliant on the 64 and in Melee, New Super Mario Brothers had me grateful that my it was not me but my brother who had paid $80 for a game that I'd played on the NES when I was 6 and Monster Hunter Tri had me wondering why the console actually existed - the game could have worked on the PS3 or 360 but I hated every second on Wii.

Actually the only game I've been able to sit down and enjoy on the Wii by myself is Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Yeah, the best game on it was released for the N64 12 years ago, in that sense the Wii does offer something no other console can, it can give me the Nintendo licensed classics (though Microsoft gave me Banjo so they win anyways) that I can no longer play because the N64 controllers were the most fragile things you've ever seen.

I really hope Nintendo think about where they are going with their next console, it IS possible to cater for both casual and hardcore gamers (both the PS3 and 360 do it) but ESPECIALLY with the online system Nintendo seem to have given anyone between the age of 15-35 who wants to play online with FRIENDS and MEET PEOPLE and TALK the middle finger. Maybe I don't want to talk to the wankers playing COD or Halo or Killzone, maybe, just maybe I want to talk to the wankers playing Mario Kart!

Brilliant console. Used it more than the PS3 since buying that at Christmas. While I do prefer a normal controller I've had no trouble with my Wii-Mote.

It gets hate for having Shovelware yet there are still great games. To call it a 'non-gamer' console is only half true. Since there are still casual gamers on the PS3 and the 360. As far as I was last aware 'Casual' gamers were gamers who play games sparsely. And Hardcore gamers were ones who played games to death more-or-less. There are still plenty of Hardcore gamers in that aspect.

I like the Wii, but it's not my favorite console ever. Then again, all three consoles this gen are lacking in one way or another. Sure I have more play time on my 360, but I've had one (well, four) since launch and games like RDR have given me hundreds of hours by themselves but the games I've played for any extended amount of time on the Wii, I've really enjoyed.

I think of the Wii as a different experience than the HD twins. It's not supposed to be "teh hardcorz gamerz" system, it's supposed to be about just playing the games, the one that anyone can pick up and play. The hate, I presume, comes from the same people who want their thing to remain theirs. You know, the ones who hate a band they used to love if they sign with a real record company or only want to watch movies with a $200 budget shot on a used betamax camera.

With that said, I don't think the Wii is a good choice if you are only going to have one console, but pair it up with either a 360 or PS3 and you get all spectrums of console gaming since they give different experiences.

Could you perhaps explain why it is a piece of trash?
Well, for me personally, pretty much anything I played had little to no replay value, or even play value what so ever (Soul Calibur: Legends, anyone?) Also most of the games don't even look interesting enough to try. Of the maybe...20-25 games I bought and tried, only No More Heroes was the one I stand by as being worth while.

Oh my God this. I actually laughed when I realised that it was about the Wii

OT: I love the Wii, and have a load of great titles for it. Personally I can't understand all the hate it gets from ignorant people who have never played anything but *shudder* carnival games on it
