Gold doesn't glow like that except under exceedingly bright light. Which there was not.

I was just looking through the forums and saw a thread titled something along the lines of "what's in the briefcase". Expecting it to be about Quentin Tarantino's masterpiece- Pulp Fiction- I clicked the link. Instead, I was disappointed to find it was about Team Fortress 2.

So, I decided to start this thread for what I thought the other's intent was:

What do you think is in the briefcase Marcellus Wallace wants?

I would personally interpret its golden glow to represent immense wealth, to be gained regardless of the required means.
I had the exact same thoughts about that thread. I always thought it was really great that they never showed what was in the briefcase, because it really didn't matter what was in the briefcase. It was the effect that the briefcase had on the characters that was important.

While I do like that, I also am the sort of person who must analyze everything.

the necklace that steals voices from the little mermaid-they have the same glow, so by some mathematical property, they are the same. plus, there are several times i wanted uma thurman to shut up in that movie, so it would satisfy my wishful thinking.

Really geez, its some of the sand from the lost ark. After Indie had it taken by the government (and later went crazy and had a bizarre dream about a nuke and alien crystal skulls) it sat in the store room for years. It was than that Jules broke into store room and took a sample for the boss while the army guys ended up going to a twist contest that Vincent gave them free tickets too.

BTW Can you believe that this is movie is from 94!!! Can we call it a classic yet. For those of you old enough to have seen it in the theatres, make sure your kids see it now, in context and with a mature but open mind of course.

Absolutely nothing. It's all just a psychological test to determine how far the human population will go toward some reward, even if the exact nature of said reward is unknown.

It contains the soul of Marsellus Wallace. That's why he wears a band-aid on the back of his head, because when you make a deal with Satan, that is where he reaches in to acquire your soul, according to some Christian beliefs. Hence the importance of the briefcase and the code 666 to open it.
That answers one question, but it raises an even more baffling one. How did a bunch of kids get the soul of a crime-lord? And what did they plan on doing with it?

Although practically any answer applies here, I actually don't like the whole "Marsellus's soul" theory. Seems a little to farfetched for even myself to believe.

In situations with these objects, I look from an outside perspective and try to offer an original and creative idea. Perhaps it was the viewer's own interest. The signs add up: Glowing light, a solution to problems, and a reason to wonder what was inside of it every time it was opened and why other characters were somewhat astounded by what they saw.
