The answer is simple to me. To die peacefully in bed after decades of coming to terms with the things you've done and seen in life and war, both good and bad. Finally resolving that for good or evil, you did your best in all that was asked of you. Nothing less, Nothing certainly more.

Either that, or the way thor dies during ragnarok. Which is to say, fighting a snake the size of the fucking planet, killing it, and then slowly succumbing to it's venom to save all of humanity (however vain this may be considering it's ragnarok).

I agree. Dying killing others is brave, but dying to save lives is truly heroic.

Enough said, giving your life to save another is the true definition of heroic in my opinion. But you have to do a speech before dying on the "why"'s of your sacrifice or you risk passing it as a wrong place wrong time sort of event =P

The most Heroic way would be like Dian Wei from Dynasty warriors 3. His masters compound is getting burned while they all are sleeping so he goes gets his master, single handedly fights through waves after waves of opponents with his axe i might add. Gets his master to a safe exit allows him to flee and buy him time by chopping down the opposition. Needles to say he "succumbed to battle wounds" in the game but reading up on him in Chinese legends, apparently he was hit 6 times in the chest with arrows, stabbed once with a sword through the shoulder, and once through the hip/sidey-stomach with a spear. What brought him down for good was a arrow in his left thigh and then a resulting sword stab to the chest. THATS a heroic way to die.

There is no single way, even if something appears to be unmached in valor there is another action that equals or is greater in purity of sprit, it all comes down to what you personly value.
