In Dreamfall, replaying Dr Park's recording of Faith's final months in Stark, at the Wati testing facility in Saint Petersburg.

Such an emotional ride, that game.

I was really sad when Shadow died at the end of Sonic Adventure 2. Don't gimme any shit about it either, I just get choked up when I'm reminded that there actually could be good in the world.

Two moments: The ending scenes in MGS4, and the scenes from The Darkness when Jenny dies, and after you kill Paulie.

When my dog is shot by Lucien in Fable 2.
This moment literally almost made me cry, yeah I'm not ashamed to admit it. But it all ended up ok in the end.
The dog in Fable 2 is nothing compared to Dogmeat in Fallout.

Well, sir, your about to get insnared of nerd humiliation, as the end Half-Life 2 ended with [spoiler/] Alex's Father getting shanked by an advisor [/spoiler]
You apparently failed to note the AND that brought together the two statments.

I'm not a heartless asshole but is it really that sad to see a videogame character die? I guess I just have no emotions in games, Dead Space and Doom 3 didn't scare me at all, I laugh whenever someone dies and I just don't care about the characters in games. I was disappointed when Sniper Wolf and Psycho Mantis died in Metal Gear Solid, but I didn't come close to crying and I forgot about both of them 5 minutes later.

Carmine dying in Gears of War 2! Not Carmine... AGAIN!!!!111one

No, not actually, but probably when Dom finds his wife in Gears 2. I think it may have been the first game to make my eyes wet a tiny bit. I didn't cry though, I don't get that into it.

Figuring out that Black Isle slaughtered all the characters I liked from Baldur's Gate 1 and left the survivors with shitty cameos (with a few exceptions) or emotional trainwrecks for number 2. I mean, we were a big, happy arse-whopping family and then boom, you're dead or everyone you love is dead or you're going insane.

The point of putting the spoiler was to keep it hidden from people who didnt want to see, but oh well.
I wouldn't agree with you concerning Dogmeat, because he doesn't haveto die, in Fable 2 it is a plot device that is unavoidable.

*Half-life 2 Episode 2 Spoiler*

When Alyx got stabbed by a hunter. I was surprised at how upset I was.
Me too. That upset me, and the ending actually left me with tears in my eyes. By the way, you can do a spoiler tag like in my next quote by doing what I'm about to do, just replace the ( ) with [ ].

(spoiler=Half-life 2 Episode 2 Spoiler)When Alyx got stabbed by a hunter. I was surprised at how upset I was.(/spoiler)

I'm going to bold the key part in the post you quoted.

Yeah, that was depressing. Tai's death too.

Anyway, I forgot to mention my saddest moment:
When Saren shot himself after realizing he was indoctrinated. "Goodbye, Shepard. Thank you".

Also, a less remembered scene: Fai Dan killing himself. [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S9Pr5imIG2Y]

The end of an RPG.

It just feels so sad, all the people you made friends with, travelling companions you, the player, have to leave behind after the credits.
Strongest time I felt this sadness is the final walk to Zanarkand in FFX.

***Final Fantasy 10 Spoiler***

Your character, Tidus, falls in love with Yuna, and then realises that no matter what, if they save the world, one of them will die/cease to exist.

the final boss battle happens, and Tidus begins to disappear, and Yuna tries her hardest to catch him, but can do nothing.

as humiliating as it is, first and only time i actually shed a tear in a video game.

Alot of the parts in Halo 2, because the games story had so much emotion, my 10 year old mind, couldnt take it, and so, I started crying. I also thought alot of the parts in pychonauts to be tear jerky to, like when you find out the control freak teacher's mother died when he was young.
I'm not trying to be an ass but, how the hell did Halo 2 make you cry? Even if you were only 10, there's nothing sad about Halo 2.
I'm surprised no one said Final Fantasy 7 yet.

I haven't cried in a movie but I was sad at parts of God Father and Gran Torino, but those movies actually have characters that are deeper than a piece of paper.

Losing 2 of my team in the space of 40 minutes in Mass Effect wasn't exactly sad but it was disappointing.

know what you mean! was playing through the game for the first time in co-op with a friend of mine, having fun at the brutality and generally joking about stuff...and BOOM! "Attack from the mood killer 2000!"

still nice addition to the story! made me sympathize a lot more when i were trying to imagine myself in his shoes *sniffle*

Yeah I know, I was sure I was going to find some bleeding heart fan-girl say something like "OMG I was soooo sad when Aerith dies."

I don't know why people even write it like that. The original game clearly says "Aeris" with an "S" and a "th" at the end. Saying it like that makes you sound like like you have a lisp.
