I had fun grinding in Mother 3. Not that you were necessarily required to because it was rather easy. I just wanted the ultimate weapons and gear for everyone. Now why is it fun? Because the battle system is fun and if anything grinding is just a form of practice for getting the BGM rhythms down. So it was a three-fold reward. Higher stats, rare items, and better skill for myself.

Other games, usually not so much.

I don't mind it all that much, but if I do it, I don't do it for any length of time. Like in DQ9 if I have some spare time while I'm out I'll spend 10-20 mins just wandering for alchemy regs or killing stuff.

Where I don't like grinding is in achievements. "Kill X enemies with the [insert weapon]". Why? That's not an achievement so much as an arbitrary item on someone's checklist. I almost always ignore those and if I wind up getting them, fine, if not, that's fine too.

I don't mind it, but then again, I play lots of JRPGs, which tend to be full to the brim with grinding, so I guess I've gotten used to it. Anyway, without grinding, how else am I supposed to get that Level 100 Starmie in Pokemon Red?

I hate it its a complete turn off for me and makes me switch off the game immediatly as soon as I realise what is going to happen. Its like watching Lesbian porn and then suddenly someone knocks you off your computer and then puts meatspin on and then when you open your eyes you realise what it is and then you pull the plug off the computer.

(If you don't know what meatspin is, I wouldn't recommend it unless your bi or homosexual and male or a female into that stuff).

People who complain about grinding in single player RPGs just suck at the game, plain and simple. All RPGs have a certain level of grinding and its up to your skill as a player that determines what level you need to be to get through parts of the game.

I don't like grinding in MMORPGs because most of the time I find myself doing it just so I can get through a new area. It always makes me ask myself "if everything in this area is so weak compared to the next one over, why doesn't the next one over move in and kick this one's ass?"

In single player RPGs it can be fun, and you don't really need to do it as much, unless you're underleveled anyways, in which case stfu.

I tend to play The one MMO that has no grind whatsoever. [http://drift.ijji.com/]

It's also cel-shaded and anime.

More on-topic, grinding's alright for a while, but only if it's filling in the time for somthing else. Having to grind is what drove me away from every MMO except the one I linked above ;)

(it needs moar players too)

IT's kinda tedious, but I like to do it. I'm playing disgaea, and I've been grinding nonstop. :/

I like it.
I hate questing, too much back and forth and little stories I couldn't give a damn about.
Grinding however, just flip on some music, or a movie, and I am set for a few hours.
Usually get bored with the movie/music long before I do grinding.

I hate it, and it is a game breaker for me. Now, this is grinding, in RPGs that I cannot stand, which is why I really no longer touch JRPGs or MMOs anymore. In, say, TF2, BC2, or MW2, yea, you are technically grinding, but the gameplay is also it's own reward. I'm playing the game to hurt people, and to headshot anyone foolish enough to be on the enemies team, not because I want to unlock a new type of scope or a few hats. That's the critical difference to me. Hitting attack 1,000 times in a row to slowly fill up a bar isn't fun, it's immersion breaking, and most importantly, it's fucking boring.

I hate grinding. If you get to a point in the game where you have to grind in order to stand a chance of getting past an area, then that reeks of bad gameplay design. The only time I think grinding is acceptable is when it happens to be a somewhat minor case (usually as a byproduct of bad character/class design) or when they manage not to make it boring as hell. Take Diablo 2, for instance. If you ever did grind, you had fun doing it.

I don't mind it, I kinda like it. I got my character on Aion to lv.50 by mainly grinding, and I was using the exact same skills every 30 seconds, in the exact same order. I like slow progression, and I like earning things. Like, on Guild Wars I can sit there and grind for 2 hours straight and just enjoy the fact that I'm earning platinum, even though I won't spend it. That's MMO's though, I have no desire to grind on single player games, and little desire to actually complete them it seems, strange...

I play a lot of JRPGs and have devoted hours to grinding away just to get a new skill or item, so it's fairly safe to say I have no problem with grinding. Depending on the game, I even find myself enjoying the grind. In Persona 3 FES, Final Fantasy XIII, Dragon Quest 8, Disgaea 2: Dark Hero Days and many other games, I find myself enjoying the grind. Whether it's from the battle system, the enemies to fight or a combination of the two, I just find myself having fun with it.

You can do eet. It can be less boring if you watch a movie or listen to music whilst doing it. It's the only way I can do it. Otherwise I just say f*** this and rage quit for a while.
