A couple of days ago, I had a conversation with my friend about Skyrim(I know, its been over talked, but bear with me). I bought the game legally during launch day, and have recommended it to all of my friends ever since. However, this friend said he was going to pirate Skyrim(moderators, please read the spoiler). He had more than enough money to purchase it, and had the means to as well. I tried to talk him out of it, spouting the usual arguments(the developers deserve the money, this game was expensive to make,etc.). Then he said one thing that really disgusted me."You're just jealous because you had to pay for Skyrim while I get it for free." Just... really? I might be overreacting, but who would think like that? Who would think paying the developers who gave me this experience makes me jealous of illegally pirating a game? At that point I just stopped the conversation. So Escapists, what do you think of this? Am I just really sensitive and overreacting or am I right to get upset over this?
I'm not encouraging or promoting piracy. I'm very against it and I made this thread just to tell people about what my friend thought.
