And we have better rations than the Americans. They trade jeeps with 50 cals for them.
I respectfully disagree. Haven received both American and British MRE's from my adventures in Boy Scouts, I can fully assert that the American Meals are what Europeans would envy.

Just remember their are more accents and Dialects in the UK than there are people XD

EDIT: OT I think respect for any armed forces should be unconditional, we all owe them something.
Ah, but for every dialect and accent in the UK, India has 10 more. No, really, there are some 800 languages in that country.

Anyways, You know how the US is focusing on Drone attacks in Warzistan (Pakistan)? Well, people, especially Pakistani media are constantly bringing up the point of civilians being killed in these attacks. Well here's what I learned recently. The poor, illiterate people in this area hate the Taliban with their guts. They see them as oppressive hooligans who ride in, beat them, rape them, kill them, etc. They want them dead. Period. They rather have US drones killing a few of their own then suffer the Taliban because they know it's a sacrifice that will help them as a whole in the future. They prefer drones to the Pakistan military that's corrupt as well; who are like the Taliban. I got this info from an respected Pakistani journalist who was in the Warzistan region, so I can take his word as true.

I think they throw puppies off of cliffs....and that makes me sad panda. :(
I once watched a mexican kid and a black kid throw a kitten into a wall until it died. So by that logic all mexicans and blacks torture kittens?
You watched? if that had been me the logic would say that all blacks and mexicans got hit by a baseball bat.

I think they're soldiers like any other from any other country, I haven't seen them outside of fiction, so I can't put much of a view on them really.

They are just the regular people trying to get by.
The job pays, they need a job, they take it.
I cannot think badly of them, it is not really their fault if they get sent to war.

Wow, to all the anti soldier extremists on this thread, I DARE you to stand up and say that to a soldiers face. Either you won't and everyone will see you as the cowards you are, or you will and you'll get ur ass kicked, both are fine by me.

"Just following orders." is not an acceptable excuse for killing.
I'm not challenging your statement, but I'd just like to say that several experiments (most notably the Stanley Milgram experiments) have shown that it is very hard to deliberately disobey someone who is percieved as your superior. So while "just following orders" may be hard to believe, it is widely regarded as true.

Of course, there are always bad apples.
Just to elaborate on that 65% of people were convinced to kill by a scientist.
I'm sure than you could increase that too nearly 100% if the autheority figure were appropriately replaced.

Actually, scratch all that. I'm going to refrain from stating my opinion on the matter. I don't want to be flamed by everyone and their dog for being "PRO-MILITARY RETARD HURR DURR".

Don't blame soldiers for wars, at the very least. Blame politicans who start them.
I like the way you think, man.

That wording is wrong, they weren't convinced to kill since convinced implies they were ok with it and they had no direct contact with the 'subject'.
They were co-erced into giving a potentially lethal shock

Ironic isn't it? You guys have better training than us, but we have a bigger budget? That reminds me, i nearly laughed out loud when i first heard a British soldier talk. Having grown up listening to various Asian and Pacific languages, i was used to hearing weird accents, but when i heard this guy talk , i was so reminded of Redwall i nearly burst out laughing to his face.
You have a bigger budget since you are a richer country, doesn't help you shoot straight though does it? (said tongue-in-cheek, not designed to cause a flame war)

Well, it's not like they all join up because they think war is cool(well, I know one guy who did). Most of them enlist because they need the money, or they don't have any better options.

What do I think of US soldiers uhh nothing much really I'm not a US citizen, soldiers overall I respect as much as I do anyone who serves a pivotal role in society doctors, police, soldiers, firemen all deserve far, far more respect and attention than they get. At the same time being a soldier is still a job and a civil service at that considering it's my taxes that are keeping them equipped, fed, trained etc so I feel I have a right to voice disatisfaction when the government sends our troops overseas to wars with less than 80% public support nor would I shy away from my views because a few people consider it "unpatriotic" I'd say its far less patriotic to send fellow countrymen overseas to die without meaning really, we gained nothing from that war but thats neither here nor there I guess.

And soldiers are still more than capable of doing a bad job, or breaking rules/laws again its a civil service which comes out of the public pocket even if you put your lives at risk which is admirable, soldiers are still very much and should be accountable for their actions.

Well, I like the the people joining for reasons that are more intelligent than "My dad was in the Army or USMC! So I'm joining!" Or "I'm joining to shoot those goddamn terrorists!" I can't stand that people can't seem to get that there were only a few terrorists from the Middle East and that the majority of the Middle Eastern population aren't bad people. I also don't like the people who constantly bring up the fact that they're veterans (not that there are very many vets who do that).

My opinion is that they are in Iraq stealing all the oil. I have no problem with the soldiers as such, although I am slightly prejudiced against the US in general.

No matter the motivations behind the war, the Coalition has had a positive effect on the people of Iraq
