What do you think should be a crime?

We have lots of laws, it's safe to say. Some are good, some are bad, some don't really make sense. But if you had the chance to make anything illegal, what would it be?

Personally, I think that adultery should be a crime. Marriage involves a sacred oath and bond, and breaking it is a foul thing to do. If you're not satisfied with your marriage then seek a divorce, don't sully it with licentious stupidity.

Also, double parking. The punishment should be something along the lines of having your head removed from the rest of your body.

If adultery is going to be a crime, then the government needs to legalize polygamy first. Not everyone feels the need to restrict themselves to one partner.

DUI already is a crime, but I feel it should carry sentencing more along the lines of Attempted Murder. If you think your good time is worth potentially costing someone their lives because you can't thing straight, you should be locked up.

Stealing, killing, rape, that sort of bad stuff.
I don't think stuff like adultery should be a crime, it's just being a dick.

Have you recently been cheated on by your wife/husband? If so, I am very sorry, but to make it a crime is a terrible idea as the act of having sex with another women/man/hermaphrodite beside the one the you said a few words to is not harmful to anyone.

Adultery is already a crime in a sense. You get pretty much fucked over in the divorce settlement. That's enough justice imo.

Walking slowly in front of me in public.
Just move out the way! Don't walk in threes because I cannot slip by!

Spam e-mails. I have no idea how to legislate or enforce it, but even if it were a small fine, it would probably be enough to prevent getting links to phishing sites, malware, con men, and penis pills on a daily basis.

Also, music piracy should be better enforced. I'm not saying we should fine individuals thousands of dollars or "censor the internet," but if a website is stealing your shit, there should be some recourse. (And there might be, I don't really know.) I just hate that no one else on the planet pays for music anymore. That's stupid and should be stopped.

Stupidity.

Yeah, it would be pretty hard to enforce, but hey, the world would be a better place for it.

Me, despise idiots? Yes.

So you'd have to marry a second partner before you could have sex with them?

You, I like.

... or maybe we'd think each other idiots. Either way, we probably have something in common.

I'm in favor of implementing a licensing system for people who want to become parents. As for outright outlawing something, I would make it a crime to walk side by side in groups of 3 or more. Seriously, fuck people who do that. If you're with a BF/GF/Wife/Husband etc that's fine but if you're with 5 of your douche-bag friends, walking side-by-side, you should be fined at the very least.

Making something a crime won't make it disappear.

Although I would like heavy prison sentences for passing anti-constitutional laws and being politically irresponsible.

Consumer's market. People just don't value music so it's hard to sell it.

Anyway, the problem isn't the laws, it's how to enforce them. If county X makes piracy illegal, websites hosted in Y will not have to follow that law. Enforcing copyright laws inside a country would literally depend on censoring the internet/violating privacy rights.

Also, I've got more things that should be considered a crime:
1. Copyright laws. 'Nuff said.
2. Downloading a torrent and taking note of the peers that show up - if anyone ever tried to use that on court it should backfire on the accusation.

>nanny state

Why not skip the parenthood and just surrender all children to the government? I bet they will do a better job!

That would be the worst case of government interference this decade. I bet that's a violation of human rights.

1. Licensing is a load of crap. Gun licenses don't prove anything. Car licenses don't prove anything. How many people commit code violations every day on the streets? How many people die every year in the roads? How many people licensed to have a gun have committed murder? Licenses are a far too simple answer to a complex thing. Handling a gun is simple, driving a car is complex but parenthood is just so much more complicated than knowing road signs and changing gears. Or keeping a finger off the trigger.

2. Making it illegal to have children without a license won't stop people from having sex and making babies illegally.

(just picking out random ones I thought were interesting here)

For adultery being a crime... I'm conflicted on this. As far as I'm concerned, marrying someone means that you won't do stuff like that (anymore, at least), but I'm not sure if actually throwing someone in jail is the proper response. As for double parking, a large part of me wants to say "Hell yes, do it!" but the more reasonable part says beheading is a rather extreme punishment. For the line of "Happy People[sup]TM[/sup]" clogging up sidewalks, I think a fine is good. Not too extreme, but gets the point across that it's a dick move.

I agree, I can't think of anyone who actually spends money on music anymore now, talking about how amazing a new album is but refusing to give the artist money for it.

As for my own thing that isn't a crime but I kinda wish it was, erm... People who don't clean up their dog shit shouldn't be allowed dogs.

You can be charged fines instead of jail time for crimes you know

I do. In fact, I actually helped finance my favorite band's most recent album through Kickstarter. I have a very strong "no piracy" policy.

Queue Jumping
Taking too long at the cash machine when there is a queue.
And a lot more queue related laws :p

Also some laws relating to glasses;

Ban fake glasses as they pose a health risk ie. you will be punched in the face if caught wearing them.
Sunglasses are only to be worn outside in sunny weather, not indoors or at night time.

..Can you name a western nation that has "adultery" as a crime, and not just a "legit reason for divorce"?

As for DUI..Meh. Depends on how drunk you are, I'd say.
