So Nasa have announced that they will be announcing information that will 'impact' the search for extraterrestrial life, on Dec 2nd.

Well to me it just sounds like a soundbite, it's not going to be anything like 'We've found aliens', probably just the discovery of 'possible' life bearing planets (again).

OK this has got a lot of people talking.. BUT MAYBE THAT'S THE POINT...

The US gov't are looking for ways to mitigate the 'Cablegate' saga, to get us talking and thinking about other things hoping it will all just go away... I find it far more likely that this 'announcement' is just a bunch of misdirection to focus our attention elsewhere.. let's face it, it wouldn't be the first time gov'ts have used obfuscation and misdirection to fudge sensetive issues, in fact it's a pretty standard practice.

I really hope they found a blue phone booth on Mars. That would be the best thing to ever happen ever.

Half-Life 2: Episode 3

I'm hoping it's some footage of some antennae moving around behind a rock on the moon that they're going to go investigate.
Although it's probably something boring and sciencey to do with little scraps of genetic material that may belong to an alien but probably belongs to more rock.

Welcome to three hours ago :D
The search bar has been invented.

And as I said there, I think it's just bacteria or the likes, or possibly nitrogen based life.

No one think it could be an exercise in misdirection?

Whatever it is, it's just gonna be hype and lame, I think.

It will be bacteria. I doubt whether there is any life as we recognise it out there

Yes, before everyone berates me about this, I understand statistically it's likely, but I don't believe there is. Don't waste time trying to convince me

They likely found another barren rock with some tiny semblance of life on it floating in the middle of nowhere.

You're a moron. NASA doesn't give a damn whether the government is mired in a scandal.
It's just a finding like any other, which will only be of interest to those who are interested in the subject matter. Most likely a confirmation of some particular organic molecule in a molecular cloud, or perhaps confirmation of water in some planet's atmosphere.

They're going to announce that star destroyers have come out of hyperdrive too close to our system.
Admiral Ozzel's gonna be in some deep s***.

On 21st of December 2012 A giant crystaline penis will float into earths orbit and cum lava all over the planet, I know it.
Yes, my perverted mind rather likes this. Not in the sence of actually happening, but just the funny comment!

OT:

Bacteria! Bacteria! Or a Bacterial Infection in one of Nasa's Employees foot! Ye... bacteria it is, or just some new moon,, on collision course with the Sun, or Earth itself?

So you're not aware that Nasa receives it's mandate from the Gov't and is just another Gov't department? They do what the gov't TELLS them to do... Anyway, I didn't say it WAS the case, just that it's certainly not improbably considering other tactics used to mislead and misdirect.

As for being a moron...maybe you should look closer to home on that one.. after all, only 2 posts and you've already run our of words and you have to resort to namecalling, hmmmm :/

"Not only are they here, they've actually been living among us for years."

Man, that would be awesome.

So anything which received funding from the government is just another government department eh?
