Fallout can't and won't be set anywhere besides the US or Canada because without the American propaganda the franchise wouldn't be the same. I would love to see a Fallout set in South Florida due to the possibilities in enemies and Miami is a very colorful and interesting city. Some possibilities for add-ons could be Orlando where there might be an amusement park vault and the swamps of the Everglades for a Point Lookout styled dlc. It does get rainy so they would have to make some much needed weather effects.

I'd like it to be like the original Fallout games
maybe not necessarily RPGs

but for god's sake

memorable characters like Sgt Dornan
fun things like beating the game with a low intelligence character
killable kids

I AM SHOCKED. 3 pages in and not ONE person listed "To be like Fallout 1 & 2 when the series was good, FO3 and NV are just stupid Call of Duty games." I AM SHOCKED.

OT: Most of the mods made official. I want my A-127 Fusion Cannon damnit.
That's because we know they won't make it like that anymore. Not enough $$$ in it for them. THEY WANT ALL THE KIDDIES $$$, BECAUSE THEY SEE COD MAKING BILLIONS, AND THEY WANT A PIECE OF THAT ACTION. SO THEY HAVE TO MAKE IT A FPS NOW.
I don't think he meant them to be played like 1 and 2, but rather like what I said on my previous post here

Eh, I don't know. I'm not really enjoying anything about New Vegas so far.

Unrealistically? Make it an MMO without changing the core mechanics of the game. I want tribes and all that goodness.

Realistically? Just a better setting. Something different, like another country. Maybe try Europe or China. Have barely any Deserts, just make it a giant wasteland of a City

Wow that was 100X move civilized then i expected it to be. I accept that responce although I disagree with it a bit.

wich brings me to my sugestion MORAL GRAY AREAS. Seriously this is the one thing that NV did Worse then f3 and in wich both games are bad. I think the Enclave had a way beter moral leg to stand on then ceasers legion. I mean "hmm i wonders whos side ill be on, the side of the slightly corrupt government or the side of the army of cosplayers whos leader is sick and whos lutenient is an insane psyopath
Actually, Enclave is arguably much darker than the Legion.

Remember when President Eden gives you a little virus to slip into the water purifier? To wipe out all mutant life? Which means everyone who was ever born outside of a vault, ever? The enclave views those outside the enclave as mutants, who need to be eradicated. They're more than just a corrupt government. They're a genocidal army.

Legion on the other hand is ": "It means a nationalist, imperialist, totalitarian, homogeneous culture that obliterates the identity of every group it conquers. Long term stability at all costs. The individual has no value beyond his utility to the state, whether as an instrument of war or production". Legion revolves around a political idealogy, meant to ensure stability for the people of the wastes. By no means does this mean Legion are the "good guys". Enslaving anyone without a dick kinda ruins your moral standing. But at least they aren't wholehandedly slaughtering the entire wasteland. In fact, the territories they have conquered are some of the safest in the post apocalyptic world.

In 3, the factions are clear cut. Enclave bad. Brotherhood Good.

In New Vegas, the only completely "good" faction I can think of are the Followers of the Apocalypse. And the only straight up bad ones are the Fiends and the Powder Gangers. NCR is slightly corrupt and jingoistic, House doesn't give two shits about anything outside Vegas, the Brotherhood are killing themselves in their isolationism, and Legion's Legion.

On-Topic: Obsidian Entertainment. They know how to actually make a good Fallout game, unlike Bethesda.
Great here we go agin, ok what was your problem with fallout 3.(i will humor you)
Let's see:

Story was an absolute joke with virtually no choice given to the player character (Shit, it might as well have been a completely different franchise).

The characters were laughable at best; completely one-dimensional and almost cartoony in a sense with zero depth given to them.

Bethesda didn't seem to understand the concept of dark humor, which is a fairly major thing in the Fallout franchise.

They completely ruined the lore in regards to the Enclave, the BoS and the F.E.V.... I'd even go as far as to say that they butchered the BoS.

Really, there are several other things too, but I'll just leave it as this for the time being.

Three Words: Stay. in America.

A setting in Europe would not only remove what made Fallout Fallout but also would break the lore. Europe and most of the rest of the world is gone, it was bombed to hell, like three or so times. (Not talking one bomb drop, but many bombs dropped each time.)
This guy actually gets it. Bravo.
I'm gonna say first off we're not gonna agree on much so I'm gonna say what I agree with first.

The story was yeah pretty meh, and the dark humour definitely dropped several notches but I still enjoyed the game. I have enjoyed all the fallout games greatly.

Now that thats out a the way,
I don't see how they messed up the Enclave, other then perhaps they were supposed to be gone after 2 or somethin, The BoS wasn't slaughtered although the outcasts were a better representation of the actual BoS and Lyons groups should have been the real outcasts. It is mentioned that they are seperated from the western BoS.
After consulting the wiki... Please tell me how they F@#$ up the FEV

The setting could go out of the US sure the other areas were more devastated but that could be a good reason to go there since the US is getting back on its feet(slowly but surely) they could go out to the rest of the world and find it is just shit full of subhuman mutants and wildlife from the areas that didn't have anything to bomb. Ya know.

But seriously how did they mess up the FEV

Something stable that doesn't crash every time things get good. Or you know enemies that aren't clipping into the ground. Also I'd like it if the game didn't have massive issues besides the ones I listed.

Have it take place in the Texas Commonwealth, the Gulf Commonwealth, or Canada (America annexed Canada, so why not use it.). Use the Skyrim Creation engine. Make the karma actually matter.

I know that Fallout has been a big topic recently for what ever reason but while I was playing I just thought of how cool it would be to have something like weather in the game. Obviously in NV you were in the Mojave so rain would have been a little out of place but it still does rain occasionally in the desert so maybe if they had one story mission that had rain. Though it would be scripted it would still be cool. And where ever they have the next game I bet it will rain there so yeah. Weather. Sounds cool to me. How about you? What do you want added?
...
funny you should mention weather in Fallout games...
http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=35998
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n-ZgPxHSfLM <-- I recommend playing that in 1080p.

Personally, I'd like to see pretty much all of the QoL and difficulty mods that I have installed implemented. Driveable/rideable vehicles you can purchase or build/repair from scrap, more character customization options (more hair options, body type, height, scarring... with body type and height influenced by starting S.P.E.C.I.A.L. stats and traits), configurable pipboy options and more detailed environmental readouts, color choices for the piplight, piplight modes that include a flashlight-type beam, hardcore modes for combat (no more "I was shot in the face six times with an open-faced helmet on... but not to worry, my damage threshold applies!"... also, damage types a la Fallout 2) and inventory management (no, I can't fit three miniguns and a suit of power armor in my backpack... also, backpacks) , player homes that require parts and labor to fix up... hell, buildable player homes... and yes, weather a la Nevada Skies... in addition to that, I'd like the NPCs to react to said weather effects. Vision impairment, running for cover from sand/duststorms, et cetera.

**edit postscript** LAN-enabled multiplayer co-op would be nice as well. Perhaps there could be multiple background choices for player characters as well.

No factions. I really, really hated the factions in NV Vegas. Above anything else I want for that game.

Otherwise, keep the iron sights and Assault Carbine from NV. But don't make the food a gradual heal. I want the health now, not 30 seconds from now.

maybe some co-op and maybe for those wanting to know what happened with the takeover of canada, set it in near Niagra Falls, what better place to show the tensions than where there is literally just fast moving water seperating them, they did it in New Vegas so why not, except there would be a bit more decision making when it comes to who to side with (at least for me i could find very few reasons to ever side with the legion) as a player from the USA playing the game might on one hand want to help their country, but on the other hand they might agree with the Canadians, or something like that, Europe would be interesting too just because of all the different coutries so close together over 100 years the cultures might blend together or get really distorted (and also castles!)

Fallout 3's level scaling to return. Railroading the player for the first 10-15 hours is not good game design in an open world, Obsidian.
I know we've discussed this over Twitter but again I'd like to get in this debate where more people can get in on this.

I disagree with the idea of level scaling in any game and I loved the work that New Vegas did in eliminating that. It gave you something to work towards rather than just seeing your work only making normal enemies stronger. It just made everything seem pointless.

Yes the railroading may seem off in an open world but to me it makes more sense than having the same creatures magically getting stronger as you are.
