If it's free, it's normally cost them nothing, which means that it's aesthetic at best.

Wow, you have nothing to do at the moment, huh? Seems my comment irritated a few people. Ok, if they're producing this much stuff, it should have either been included in the game straight up, or they should be working hard on creating an improved sequel. Unless real life circumstances change, such as in a sports game, there should be no need to update a complete game via DLC, unless the game itself is tailored specifically to be part created by the user base, which these games aren't.
The constant adding of items is what helps foster strong community by keeping it fresh. The build up to the updates often has comics or short films which helps the anticipation. Also, Valve take consumer feedback on board a huge amount, and balance tweaks and bug fixes come out every other week. I don't see what a sequel would accomplish in throwing out the fantastic base they began with, and this is a multiplayer game, the gameplay foundation was near perfect, which is the most important part. New maps and weapons being added on a gradual basis keeps things from being overwhelming as well. Finally, a big part of the appeal of the new weapons is the change in the meta game, which results in coming back to an old game with fresh tactics.

Also, it took me 50 seconds to type that. You should learn to Ctrl+c and Ctrl+v better. :p

Edit: Oh, and a large amount of the maps are user created, as well as some weapon models.

Hunting down the links in the first place seems like too much effort for me :p

I get what you're saying, and it's a valid point, but not one that amazingly interests me. I'd much prefer game developers to get on with games, and consumer to get on with stuff like this. Seems more democratic to me...

I want to see the pneumatic diversity vent. They teased us with it, and now I want to see it. Gel + vent seems like it would be fun. Or faith plate onto a velocity gel onto a ramp, to be launched way aways. More combo levels, or having to double up gels again. More conversion gel, definitely.

The E3 demo puzzles. Don't let Aristotle have all the mashy spike plate fun.

Essentially more along the lines of the challenge maps in Portal 1, some co-op versions / extra stuff would be nice too.

This, this, this If anything at all, please, this.

I was so disappointed that it never made it into the final game. I want it this summer, Valve. Just wanted to let you know.
