Except for my mom wanting to play The Sims 3 and saying how hard Rock Band is and my dad sneaking in and playing my XBox in the night (I know he does it, I just can't prove it), they really don't mind. I don't go on gaming binges and don't let it affect school work.

That being said, I have no boyfriend, so perhaps those with significant others will have different stories.

I still remember my dad saw me playing Fable 2 once, and he said "Wow, is that that World of Warcraft thing?". I died a little and had no comment.

My Parents were actually gamers themselves, so they encouraged me.
The closest thing to them not liking me gaming when when I passed them in level when we all started playing MMORPGs (EQ at the time).

Parents are actually somewhat interested in it.

They'll ask me out of no where, "How's the game you're playing?"

So at least my parents aren't bitching at me because of it :b

They don't mind, in fact since I live in Penzance it is either this or drugs, and my mother agrees that this is a pleasant alternative.

My family used to go on at me wasting my childhood, and I should go play outside more with the other kids in my street.

Ofcourse, now I'm all grown up and doing well at uni, and the kids down the street eventually turned to drugs and crime...they don't complain quite as much. Gotta love vindication.

Totally get the 'every game was the same' jibe, I'd usually counter with 'well most of the music you listen to is the same, most of the films you watch are the same', then they explain how there are subtle differences you won't notice at a glance, realise it applies to games too and they they'd shut up.

I was a pretty smug kid, now I think about it.
Yeah gaming pretty much kept me a "good" kid. I inadvertently stayed out of trouble because of gaming.

My parents are fine with it. I've even tried to get them interested in gaming, and managed to get my Dad to try Resident Evil 4 on the Wii.

my granparents are awesome
At first my family was patronizingly enthusiastic they talked about getting more controllers and joining me. When I did get more controllers, when I was a tween, the only other person playing was my brother with his M-rated games; those didn't interested me before the age of 14. I did try to get my mom to play also but it just didn't click with her.

Logic won't work against my mother, if she doesn't like something she'll express her disdain every time I play.

All the games to her is 'the same' like everyone here said. And that I always play as the devil killing good people. When I try to tell her that I'm not the devil and I don't have to kill people, she tells me the game is making me say it. Needless to say I can't wait till uni.

My mom doesn't really mind, and somehow, it's actually possible to hold discussions about gaming with her. I guess it comes naturally to her, seeing as me and my sister (to a lesser degree, though) have been gamers since we were kids.

My dad, though, I'm pretty sure would rather see me out drinking, or doing drugs, or having unprotected sex with strange, smelly men in dark alleys. Like, you know? "Normal" people of my age.

And I'm quite certain most of my dad's side of the family would love nothing more if I was out hunting for a respectable, well-educated, fancypants young man and started to plonk out kids at as young an age as possible. Preferably after getting a decent education, so I subsequently can abandon it in favor of changing diapers and cleaning.

Gods, I hate my dad's side of the family...

My girlfriend's pretty cool with it. She's mellowed out since we started dating, and I try to tone it down. My step-dad still gives me shit about it from time to time...

He's just mad because him and his friend used to try and get down on Football games, and he couldn't memorize the control layouts (too many buttons)

I have a neighbor who's kind of like that, but he actually likes video games, but he can't play them so he likes to watch... I guess he stopped after the NES days and just never caught up after that... pitty.

Considering I reinburse them well for staying here until I can manage my own place they stay out of my personal buisness completley, we have a good relationship. Besides its not like I play games alot as it is far more to do in life than game.

Dad says, come up for dinner get off that game! I say, Ok, I just have to save it! He replies, There is nothing to save, you are not doing anything.

Everyone says I play too much XBox, because I play 1.5-2 hours a day. I know that a lot of people play WoW for at least 8+ hours, I don't even play very much at all.

My dad's a nerd so he doesn't really mind and my mom knew when I was a kid that I would like video games and metal or get in with the wrong crowd and start doing drugs. Plus when ever she's visiting on holiday, she finds it funny how making a car asplode in GTA IV sends you flying when you're close by.

They probably don't know how much gaming i do in an average week. I laugh when I get surveys from gaming companies asking how many hours a week you game and the list is like :

a) 1 hour
b) 2 to 4 hours
c)5 to 10 hours
d)10 to 20 hours

I just lol.. I can do a 20 hour stint in a day :) Do the gaming companies not know how much their products are really used, or are they trying to hid the ture addictive nature they bring?

my mom hated it very much, always saying that I"m wasting my life, however; if you compare me to my sister, who was always the "active" and "outgoing" one, you'll see that by age twenty I've got two degrees, and she's 24 and is about to get her first after being to 5 different schools....

my dad doesn't care, but he's mad there hasn't been any good fighter pilot games that he's liked since the Descent series.

My parents, sister and girlfriend are all fine with it. My sister plays sometimes. Not so sure about my aunts and uncles, but my cousins like it. My dad's side of the family dislikes it though.

My mom doesn't mind, so long as I do what I am supposed to do.
My older brother and his room mate like Fable, but not much else. The only other thing I could think of is one of my cats, who, while it was running, rubbed against and almost knocked over my 360. Scratching my Bioshock disk beyond repair.

My dad hates anything to do with video games, so i usually play when he's not around to get away from him telling me to go outside and become a productive member of society.
What I don't understand is why it's not right for me to game for 2hours, but it's okay for my dad to watch tv for 4hours.... ugh parents... My mom's cooler about gaming though........... too bad she lives on the other side of the country
